Every Monday night, Ess-a-Bagel 1st ave is filled with the sound of clinking tiles as StuyTown resident Susie Fasbinder teaches her new students how to play mahjong. 🀄

Many of the players are beginners, and it's another language they are learning as they move the tiles across the table. They call out their tiles—shortening "characters" to "cracks" and "bamboo" to "bams."

And while there is a learning curve, Fasbinder swears that "anybody -- young and old -- can learn how to play mahjong."

When in New York City, you gotta start your day with bagels! We checked out Ess-a-Bagel 1st ave right when we got to the city and it was the right choice! So many bagels with so many schmear options - I had a difficult time choosing!

We started out with egg and cheese on garlic bagel. We got an onion bagel with cheddar jalapeño schmear, and we got a pizza bagel!
