Garden Harvests will start soon (Radishes are looking good, tomatoes are shooting up, peppers are happy, lettuce is coming along, and herbs are doing whatever herbs do)

Chickens are continuing to lay well, Geese have stopped laying for the year it appears, the quail are. well being quail, and the guineas are pi**ed about something so they have also stopped laying.

Summer is officially in full swing around here and we're excited for everything coming up.

Stache Baskets signups are now open!

July, August, and October are live. I'm going to be using Hotplate to run Stache Basket while I work out a few more kinks with the website.

Each week you'll receive a curated basket filled with farm- rasised meats, fresh produce, eggs, sourdough, keitchen staples, ans seasonal goodies from Sweet Stache Farms.

Spots are limited because we're building these arougnd what our farm can realistically produce - not warehouse inventory.

Everyone sees the beautiful garden photos.

Nobody sees the years of failure that came first.

When we built our home in 2019, one of my biggest dreams was having a large family garden and greenhouse. Not one of those giant commercial operations, just enough to help feed our family of six.

In 2020 we built the greenhouse, tilled up a huge garden space, installed fancy watering timers, and got to work.

And honestly? It was terrible.

The tomatoes survived. Everything else seemed determined not to.

My carrots never got bigger than my pinky finger. The eggplants produced nothing. The corn was sad. I couldn't even get beans to grow. We watered religiously, bought all the gadgets, and still ended the season wondering what went wrong.

That fall we turned the hogs loose on the garden and hoped they'd help work the soil.

2021 was a little better. The tomatoes looked healthier. The zucchini finally decided to participate. The corn was sill sad. Everything else was still struggling.

We tried again in 2022.

And again in 2023.

Eventually we gave up over there and turned the entire area into a goat pen.

The truth is our soil is heavy clay. Hard as concrete when it's dry and sticky when it's wet. No amount of tilling, sand, or topsoil seemed to fix it.

Then in 2025 I decided I wasn't ready to give up on the dream.

If the ground wouldn't cooperate, we'd stop fighting it.

We built raised beds.

Suddenly things started growing. Tomatoes, peppers, herbs, beans, strawberries. we even tried corn again.. until the goats escaped and fount it. 🌽🐐

This year we've taken it one step further.

All winter I added rabbit manure, spent straw, old hay, and fresh top soil. Now I'm planting section by section, layering organic matter as I go and preparing to mulch everything once it's finished.

The beds are holding moisture better. The plants look healthier. And for the first time, I feel like we might actually have the garden I've been dreaming about since we moved here.

Sometimes success isn't about knowing all the answers.

Sometimes it's just refusing to quit after 4 years of failure.

🚜 Introducing the Stache Basket 🚜

For the last few months I've been quietly working on something I'm really excited about.
The Stache Basket is our farms monthly subscription designed to make shopping local simple.
Each week you'll receieve a tote bag (our basket) filled with a variety of items from the farm and bakery. Think fresh bread, farm eggs, seasonal produce, meats, herbs, flowers, kitchen staples, recipe cards and whatever else is in season for the week.

No two weeks baskets will be exactly the same, but every basket is designed to help answer that daily question:

"Whats for dinner?"

✔ Farm raised meats
✔ Fresh baked breads
✔ Seasonal vegetables
✔ Farm fresh eggs
✔ Homemade pantry staples
✔ Seasoning blends
✔ New recipes to try

The goal isn't just to fill a basket.

It's to help bring local food back to the family table.

Plus whatever chaos came out of the bakery this week that wasn't originally on the list.

As alwasy, quantities are limited, and some items tend to disappear quickly, so if there's something you've been craving, make sure to stop by early.

We'll be loading the trailer, probably forgetting something important, and heading to market bright and early tomorrow morning.

🧺 The Stache Basket decals arrived early, so naturally I had to stop everything and make a mock-up.

I’m not going to lie… seeing it all come together has me pretty excited.

For months I’ve been kicking around the idea of creating something that goes beyond a traditional CSA. Not just vegetables. Not just bread. Not just meat.

A basket filled with the things we’re already growing, raising, baking, and creating right here on the farm.

Every basket will be built around a theme and designed to help answer the question:

This is still a mock-up, so products will change with the seasons and what’s available on the farm, but I wanted to give you a peek at what I’ve been working on behind the scenes.

Something new is coming to Sweet Stache Farms... 👀

The bags have been purchased.

The decals have been ordered.

And I've spent an embarrassing amount of time staring at spreadsheets, making lists, changing lists, and them making entirely new lists.

The Stache Basket is officially moving from "crazy idea floating around in my head" to "this might actually be happening".

If you've ever wished for a simpler way to support local farms, get seasonal products, try new things, and have us do the shopping for you.. you're going to want to keep an eye on this.

We're still working out the details, testing ideas, and figuring out exactly what will make the most sense for our customers.

Will there be farm products? Absolutely.

Bakery items? Of course.

Seasonal goodies? You know it.

Some surprises? Maybe. 😉

For now, I'll leave you with this little teaser:

The bags are green.
They're insulated.
They're reusable.
And I may be slightly obsessed with them.
