Something about doors closing really ruffles my feathers badly.

Our best big man - the last one standing - will sadly be heading home to be with Blackbeak and Togna again today. 💔

Jarvis has put up the biggest fight. Our vets were blown away to hear that the turkeys were not the first to succumb to the illness we dealt with this past fall/winter because it typically takes out turkeys much faster than it does chickens - and usually it takes them all down within days of onset. We got an extra six months with him, but that still doesn’t make it easy to prepare for by any means, especially when he was just dropping the kids off at the bus with me earlier this week.

However, he has been struggling lately and finally last night was not able to make it back to the coop on his own. Sadly, his liver can no longer support him and it’s time for him to head home where his watermelon will always be extra sweet and the kids won’t always be all over his lawn.

This most likely closes our chapter with Turkeys here at Baker Acres and dang, that stings. What a memorable 5 years we had though.

Thought this was a tick but then it pulled out its finger guns and was like “jk I’m actually a scorpion!” then we both just walked away.

The guineas are not typically the brightest crayons here at Baker Acres - but it looks like they may just be headed to check The Nesting Box for ticks so I won’t discuss their one shared brain cell today.

I received the wrong soap boxes, but we can adapt. 🦎 Our handmade soap bars are just a tiny bit smaller for now… but the good news is they’re also $2 LESS 💛 Same soap bars, just slightly smaller at a better price. Having said that, CHERRY ALMOND (vegan) & LAVENDER LEMONGRASS CASTILE (goat milk) soaps are finally cut and on the shelf!

Some days you feel completely on top of things, then something just happens - like realizing the soap boxes you ordered are the wrong size only when it’s finally time to package everything. Life sure keeps me humble 🥴

They’ll be out tomorrow morning, FINALLY - but we’re going to have to improvise while I use up these weirdly small boxes. In the meantime, your bars will be a smidgen shorter, and a few smidgens cheaper ❤️ only at The Nesting Box at Baker Acres.

The people have spoken 🗣️

Grass-Fed Tallow & Honey Balm is finally made and poured 🤩 to everyone who has been waiting, thanks for lighting a fire under my b***y and giving me back the motivation I needed to get it mixed 😂 I will be getting these labeled, heat sealed, and out into The Nesting Box by lunch time.

What’s next? Hopefully, the humidity decides to leave the chat indefinitely because it’s putting a major damper on getting soaps cut and boxed. It’s not just my hair that hates it 😒 the high humidity adds days (to weeks!) to the cure time, causes bars to remain extra soft (which decreases the life of the bar), can make them take on a different appearance than usual, and just really causes all kinds of issues early on (even if functionality is the same).

The good news is, as soon as I am able to cut without the fear of soap bars turning into SOUP bars, your favorite CHERRY ALMOND soap will be back out there (double batch this time!) along with the long-awaited return of Lavender Lemongrass Castile bars 🤩
