‼ Transfusion-Related Alpha-Gal Syndrome (TRAGS) is a potentially serious allergic reaction associated with blood transfusion. At least one presumed case has been fatal.

⚠️ Typically, an Alpha-Gal reaction is delayed after consumption by 2-6 hours. But symptoms of TRAGS can cause acute, immediate hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis while a transfusion is actively taking place.

👉 Alpha-Gal Syndrome is complex, and there is still much we need to learn. But knowledge is a key component in advocating for ourselves. Stay informed and talk with your healthcare providers about Alpha-Gal Syndrome and transfusion-related risks.
