Special note: we will NOT be at the farmers market tomorrow! But it's for a very good reason! It's been chaos for us this week getting ourselves moved into our new storefront and all set up and I'm happy to say that we have officially passed our inspection 🎉 But it has taken us much longer to get moved in over there then either of our expected and we have burnt ourselves to the ground this week getting things set up. We're taking a day off to rest and then it's time to start testing our new equipment.
Announcement is coming very soon about our opening weekend! I need a nap first 🤣

Our first market of the season kicks off tomorrow! Join us as we officially kick off our 6th market season at the Iowa City Farmer's Market from 7:30-noon. 🎉 As a note - the first market of the season is always the busiest of the year so we suggest coming early and expecting a line. After a month off from baking for you all, I'm so excited to see you all again finally! And a little shop update - we've been pushing hard and if all stays on track - we hope to open our doors to you in June 🎉

**Update - hiring is now closed!**
We're hiring! We are looking for 3 bakers, 2 front of house staff, and 1 farmer's market/weekend assistant to join our team. Full job descriptions with days of week, hours, and pay be found on our website under the hiring tab. We are looking to set up interviews in the next 2 weeks and we are pushing for an early summer opening. Also a quick note as a few people asked - I am willing to take on a chef with no or very limited commercial experience as long as you are passionate so don't let that stop you from applying

It's almost Pi Day (3.14) and we're celebrating with a few different hand pies for pick up this Saturday 3/14! This bake we'll have tart cherry, blueberry, and chocolate hazelnut. Pre-orders can be placed on our website until late Wednesday and pick up is this Saturday from 9-11:30AM, with after hours self pick up after noon.
Also as a note - we are almost completely sold out of Irish soda bread so get in quick!

Our St. Patrick's Day/Pie Day Menu for pick up on 3.14 is now available for pre-orders on our website! A few pieces on the menu this year are my Grandmom's Irish soda bread (plain, raisin, or new lemon blueberry), Irish toffee, a chocolate Guinness cake, hand pies, pecan pie twice bake croissants, and everyone's favorite peanut butter pie. Pre-orders close late Wednesday night and pick up is 9-11:30AM, with after hours self pick up starting at noon.

We had such an amazing time Monday night at the 16th annual Iowa City Top Chef. We both went in with zero expectations, a dessert we knew was a little adventurous, and the spirit of just wanting to meet and see what other businesses are coming up with. It was incredible to see so many of our long time customers, hear so many kind words, and introduce our business to so many new locals. The food community here in Iowa City has been so welcoming since we started all those years ago at our first market and this event was a beautiful showcase of that. My only sadness was not getting to taste everyone else's creations!
Our dessert, the tahini chocolate cake, was actually the first dessert I ever created for a restaurant menu. We modernized it slightly but it's great to see it's still a hit all these years later. Special thanks to Downtown Iowa City for inviting us!

We're baking next weekend! Pre-orders for pick up on Saturday Feb. 28 are now open on our website.
Since there's a lot of new people here, here's a quick run down on how to try some of our baked goods. For 6 months of the year you can find us at the Iowa City Farmer's Market every Saturday morning (yes we'll be there this year too!), but in the winter we operate from home pick ups with pre-orders required (no day of sales like at the market). We have 3 winter bakes left - 2/28, 3/14 (St Patrick's), and 4/4 (Easter). Ordering for the 2/28 menu is now open and will close late Wednesday at midnight so we have time to prep orders.
All pick ups will be from our home located on the East side of Iowa City. Please note this is a residential address! We have 2 pick up options available- our regular pick up is 9-11:30AM where you come up to our front door, let us know your order number or last name and we bring it to you. In addition, we also offer after hours pick up after 12/noon where you can collect your order anytime with self pick up from our 'pastry shed' and coolers on our driveway. All orders not collected by noon will also be passed into our after hours self pick up.

A new chapter is coming this summer: Bread Worthy Bakery at 203 N Linn St. in the historic Northside of Iowa City, IA.
After 5 years of running our business out of our home kitchen, we're both incredibly excited for the expansion into our first storefront location where we look forward to being able to serve you multiple days a week throughout the entire year and for the opportunities it brings for an even fuller and more innovative menu. After some serious gutting and upgrades to the building by its new owners, construction for our new space is now in full swing and we're finally ready to share the news of what's to come.
Since even before Erick and I met 13 years ago at pastry school in Florence, Italy, opening my own storefront has been the dream and I can't believe we're finally doing it!
Also a fun little bonus fact: 203 N. Linn St. originally opened in the 1860s as Union Bakery. We are so thrilled to be able to restore some of this building's history in the gorgeous Northside neighborhood, surrounded by so many other inspiring small businesses. Thank you all so much for the support over these past years and we both cannot wait to welcome you all into our own space this summer!

Valentine's Day Pre-orders are now open 🎉. And it's a great chance to grab yourself or your loved ones something from one of our most unique menus of the year, where a lot of everyone's favorite cold specials are sold at once. A newcomer for this year is this raspberry pistachio twice baked croissant which is filled with raspberry jam, pistachio frangipane, and pistachio paste before being baked and then dipped into a fresh raspberry glaze.
Ordering is open until late next Tuesday, Feb 10th and pick ups will be on Saturday, Feb 14th from 9-11:30 AM with after hours self-pick up available.
