I am going to take some time off after Father’s Day to work on a new project.
June 2026 marks six years of baking German recipe breads, pastries and desserts and I’m thankful for all who have followed and been part of my journey thus far.
Change is good, it keeps it fresh for me and for you, so stay tuned for an upcoming announcement later in June. It’s going to be exciting!

Schwarzwälder-Kirsch-Cupcake. A dark chocolate cupcake from which I scooped a bit out of the middle, brushed with Kirschwasser and filled it with cherry filling, then topped with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.
With some leftover batter I made a few for the family and topped them with 24 carat gold leaf… because I can. 😝

Today’s bake is Brötchen, the ubiquitous roll that is harder to make than it seems like it should be. Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, ready for the meat and cheese with breakfast.

The second bake of the day is a Schwartzwälder Kirschtorte, which is one of my personal favorites. Chocolate cake, brushed with Kirschwasser, layered with tart cherries, whipped cream and topped with chocolate and cherries. Guten Appetit!

Today 1st bake is a Himmelstorte mit Himbeeren, or Heavens cake with raspberries. A light cake filled with toasted almonds in meringue, whipped cream and raspberries and topped with even more toasted almonds whipped cream and raspberries. What’s not to like? When it’s your birthday, you should feel special and this cake is pretty dang special.

Today’s bakes were Bienenstich and German’s chocolate cake for a customers birthday party. Then while those were in the chiller , I baked caffeinated chocolate cupcakes and frosted them with leftover frosting and a I made some cherry filling and made a couple of small Kirschstrudels.
