My granddaughter, Katie, is coming up from NC , and my only preparation for her visit is baking. Not because she eats that many cookies. Because when Katie comes my house becomes an all-inclusive resort the minute she arrives. Which means that there’s likely to be 3-4 teenage girl cousins here throughout the week. The cookie jar doesn’t stand a chance.

I never thought I’d pick up smoking at my age, but here we are. For my birthday, I got a smoker, and this chicken became the first resident of Grandmma’s Kitchen Smokehouse. That’s right, yesterday Grandma was smokin hot! 🤣. Many thanks to all the smokers out there who were kind enough to post detailed “how to” videos. And my son, an avid smoker, who patiently answered every question I threw at him all day yesterday.

I stole a zucchini from my daughter’s garden. It’s not a true crime because her girls’ answer to anything zucchini is, “No.” So I stepped in to help with any surplus with a zucchini scarpaccia. It’s crispy, savory, delicious, and most importantly it makes zucchini disappear. One pan down, 4,372 zucchini’s to go. 🤣

Bob and I did a little antiquing this weekend in Lancaster PA. I wanted the Model T but had to settle for an old malted milk powder jar that’s perfect to hold chocolate chips and can honorably take its place next to the other vintage jars that hold my baking supplies.
