Black drum showing up around the docks
Started seeing black drum in good numbers around the docks and oyster bars this week. They're not the prettiest fish but they pull hard and they eat well. Light tackle, a little patience, and a piece of fresh shrimp is all it takes. Great fish for kids because they hook themselves once they pick it up. Plenty of openings.

Capt. James had a good day with a bachelor party
Capt. James ran a group of guys out yesterday for a bachelor party and they had themselves a time. Plenty of fish, plenty of stories, and they all made it home in one piece. We've got two boats in the fleet now, which means we can take bigger groups or run multiple trips on the same day. Y'all let me know what works for your group

Summer is coming, dates are filling fast
If your family is heading down to 30A or Santa Rosa Beach for the summer, now is the time to get on the books. The mornings I have left are going quick and afternoons after that. Summer fishing on Choctawhatchee Bay is hard to beat — reds, trout, and Spanish mackerel all in play. Two-hour trips are perfect for kids, half-days for the serious anglers.

Fishing the back creeks today
When the wind kicks up on the main bay, we have plenty of skinny water to slip into. Spent the morning poking around some back creeks where the wind couldn't find us. Caught a mix of trout, ladyfish, and a couple of small reds. Y'all don't have to cancel your trip just because it's breezy — there's almost always somewhere to fish around here.

First-timer caught his first redfish today
Had a great trip with a young man who'd never been saltwater fishing before. Took him about ten minutes to get the hang of it and he ended up catching the biggest red of the day. That's what this is all about. If you've got a kid or a buddy who's never fished, the 2-hour beginner trip is built for exactly that. I'll teach you everything you need before we even leave the dock.

Trout bite was on fire at first light
Ran a 3-hour trip out of Santa Rosa Beach this morning and the speckled trout were chewing topwater right at first light. Hit the grass flats with some Spook Jrs and had blow-ups for about 45 minutes straight. That kind of action doesn't happen every day but when it does it's some of the best fishing on the bay. Early morning trips are where it's at right now.

Two gallon bags filled with delicious protein. Cleaned on the “half shell” and ready for the grill. Half shell means skin and scales left on so as to protect the filet while grilling. Oh, on those bigger fish, I recommend keeping the throats…that’s akin to choice cuts of beef.
