I made cold brew 36 hours ago. This cold brew is amazing and it’s so easy to make. In comments I show what cold brew pitcher I use at home. When you make your own, you will not go back to store bought refrigerated brand name cold brew. Freshly roasted, mold free, organic, no added chemicals, cold brew. Make it at home 🏠. Update on the baby robins we rescued May 22. We took them to the Bird Center of Michigan on May 25. I called yesterday for an update and they are actually learning to eat on their own with the surrogate Robin in the enclosure. So happy that all 3 of them are doing quite well.

Tips ⬇️

Just spoon your coffee in loosely. Don't tamp it down and don't stir. Once you've poured water through the grounds to about the 1.5-liter mark, seal things up and give it a good shake. This is what fully wets the grounds.

Let it sit on the counter for 2 hrs at room temperature, then 22 hours to 34 in the refrigerator. The longer you wait the deeper, richer flavors.

Tonight it’s was time to bring out croquet. This blue croquet ball holds a special memory. Rachel played with us all and obviously this was her designated croquet ball. No one is allowed to use it because we put it aside for Rachel. Great evening of fun 🤩 but I lost miserably all 6 games. I think the lawn wasn’t cut short enough 🤣.

One size does not fit all. This is a SMALL sample of coffee makers available to use. At Hooked on a Bean we ask you, how would you like your bag of coffee prepared (grind or whole beans). Reason is your coffee needs to be ground specifically for the coffee maker you use if you do not grind your own coffee or your coffee maker takes whole beans and grinds as you go. In the grocery store it is ground one size fits all and that isn’t reality. If the grind is too coarse for a coffee maker that needs a finer grind, it will not taste good because not enough coffee hasn’t been extracted. If you use a fine grind on a coffee maker that needs a coarse grind it will over extract and not taste the best. That’s why we ask questions when you come to Hooked on a Bean so that you will have the proper grind for your coffee maker. If you grind the coffee at home make sure it is the proper grind for your maker. Properly grinding coffee is critical to the taste.

The ratio of coffee grounds to water is subjective and depends on personal taste. A good place to start is to grind 3/4 ...

The ratio of coffee grounds to water is subjective and depends on personal taste. A good place to start is to grind 3/4 cup beans for 4 cups of cold water—the size of a 32-ounce container . You can double—with 1.5 cups beans for 8 cups water—or even triple the quantities depending on the size of your container.

Also cold brew must be ground coarse ⬅️very important!

When it’s completed 24 - 36 hrs, later cold brew is now a concentrate. Pour a glass but add water because it will be very strong. Adding water is usually 50:50 ratio, but if you like it pure concentrate 👀go for it.
