Fair Warning: This. Is. Long.
For the Love Family & Friends! We have some news!
You may recall that we had a pop-up shop at Southland Center with our Mallo Small Batch Confections brand at Christmas time. Our purpose for the temporary location was to get into a space where there was a natural abundance of traffic to supplement For the Love sales.
We created quite a presence in the mall and that brought us several great offers and opportunities to grow Mallo Shops to multiple locations around metro Detroit. We were excited, but at the time, we were committed to FTL AND we would be spreading ourselves far too thin trying to manage it AND these new Mallo Shops (which would total 3). We were faithful that the opportunity would still be there when we were ready and so we focused our energy and attention on FTL.
A few weeks ago, we received a call from one of the locations offering us the exact space that we previously wanted for Mallo. We said yes this time and we get possession later this afternoon. We will begin relocating Mallo to Southland Center in the old Mrs. Field’s space. At this location, we will continue to offer Mallo products, but we will also carry many FTL favorites like brownies, cookies, scones and milkshakes.
What exactly does that mean for those of you who enjoy our FTL goodies here in Flat Rock? It means that you have exactly 2 weekends left to stop in to For the Love and grab a shake, boba tea, cupcakes, brownies, coffee, cookies and whatever else we have available until we move. We will be open this Saturday 11-4 and next weekend Saturday and Sunday 11-4. We will post the menu the Friday before so you can plan what you want and order ahead as well.
BUT… the good news is that we are not closing For the Love, but moving to a new location in Woodhaven, where we will have all of our sandwiches, soup, scones, boba, milkshakes and more.
The bakery portion of FTL will convert to an online delivery CELEBRATION bakehouse! Meaning we will still offer you our amazing SCRATCH-MADE cakes, artisanal cupcakes, and desserts for your weddings, birthday parties, office parties, showers, and holidays!! We will convert our FTL website to a more robust online ordering platform and we will have everything from Wedding and party cakes to bridesmaid gifts, dessert tables, party favors, pastry baskets and more! And we will deliver to the entire downriver area!
Our new Woodhaven location will likely be ready to open in around 2-3 months but you can watch for pop up events in our space and the progress as we get it ready to open by following us on Facebook or Instagram.
We cannot express how much it has meant to us to get to know you all and how grateful we are for our time in Flat Rock. It has been a challenge at times, but we know that everything happens for a reason and we believe that so much good has and will come out of this.
Also, words can’t express our gratitude to the most amazing building owners/landlords that you could imagine having the pleasure to work with. Watch for amazing things to happen in the space, no doubt you will have yet another amazing business added to the great businesses that have and are opening in downtown Flat Rock.
