For those who have been wondering what happened to The Rowdy Roost, we’ve been trying to find the right words.

Many of you know me as the face behind the sourdough, coffee, and honey. What many may not know is that before The Rowdy Roost, I spent the better part of 20 years as a paramedic, with the last decade dedicated to serving our local community. I loved that career, but somewhere along the way I realized I wanted more out of life—not more things, but more time with my family, more connection to the land, and more opportunity to build something meaningful together.

That’s how The Rowdy Roost was born.

What none of us could have anticipated was the journey that would follow.

Over the past year+, our entire family developed significant multisystem health issues, many of them neurological in nature. The effects reached all five of us, including our children. At various points, we faced symptoms that affected our ability to think clearly, speak, learn, move, and function the way we once had. Some of those challenges remain today, and we’re still working to understand the full ramifications of what happened.

The encouraging part is that many of our symptoms began improving after we left the property. While we still have a long road ahead, we are incredibly grateful for every step forward.

The reality is that this experience changed everything.

In many ways, we lost nearly everything we had worked so hard to build. Plans changed. Dreams were put on hold. The future became uncertain.

And yet…

Somehow, through all of it, we found more than we ever imagined possible.

We found a community that wrapped its arms around us. We found friendships that became family. We found kindness in places we never expected. We found perspective. We found faith. We found gratitude.

Most importantly, we found each other.

One of the most humbling moments came when our children told us that, despite everything we’ve been through, they believe their lives are better now than they were before we got sick. As parents, that’s something we’ll never forget. It reminded us that sometimes the hardest roads lead us exactly where we’re meant to be.

The Rowdy Roost may not look the same moving forward. In fact, we’re still figuring out what the future holds. Because some of my neurological symptoms have affected the function of my hands and arms, I honestly don’t know if producing sourdough on the scale I once did will be possible.

But I do know this: The Rowdy Roost was never just about bread.

It was about community, resilience, and creating a life that felt meaningful.

That dream is still very much alive.

As we continue writing the next chapter, we’d love for you to follow and support Abundant Acres Ranch. They embody everything we love about small-town, family-owned businesses, and we’re excited to share more about them and what makes them so special in the coming weeks.

Thank you for sticking with us through the silence. Thank you for your prayers, your support, your encouragement, and your grace.

The Rowdy Roost isn’t gone.

It’s just growing in a direction we never expected.

Stay tuned. ❤️
