Job Title: Village Engineer (Full-Time)
Location: Village of Dolgeville, New York
About the Position:
The Village of Dolgeville is seeking a dedicated and experienced Professional Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This role involves overseeing a variety of municipal engineering projects, including infrastructure planning, water and wastewater improvements, coordination with state and federal agencies, and providing technical guidance for ongoing village operations and capital projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and oversee village infrastructure projects, including water, wastewater, stormwater, and transportation improvements.
• Serve as the Village’s Floodplain Manager, ensuring compliance with FEMA floodplain requirements and coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where applicable.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies including the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), NYS Department of Health (DOH), FEMA, and other state and federal agencies.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, grant applications, and project documentation.
• Assist with administration and management of infrastructure grants and funding programs.
• Seek, engage, and manage consulting engineers and technical professionals as needed to support Village projects, including development of scopes of work, procurement support, coordination, review of deliverables, and contract/task management.
• Provide engineering support to the Mayor and Board of Trustees, including attendance at meetings as required.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support including plan review, project coordination, and response to infrastructure issues.
• Perform construction observation and construction inspection and assist with project implementation from design through closeout.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of New York preferred; candidates with relevant experience and the ability to obtain licensure will be considered.
• Experience in municipal engineering, public works, or infrastructure management is strongly preferred.
• Experience applying for and administering infrastructure grants or funding programs is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with FEMA floodplain management requirements and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permitting.
• Experience in construction observation, construction inspection, and project implementation.
• Experience coordinating and managing consulting engineers/consultants, including scope development and review of engineering deliverables, is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with municipal staff, regulatory agencies, consultants, and the public.
Compensation:
Salary range is $80,000 to $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position includes a municipal benefits package consistent with Village policies.
