The coolest thing about Good Hands Bread Co is most definitely the relationship we have with our wheat farmer. We know what’s in our flour. We know because we go out there and we watch it grow, we play in it, and we see it get milled. This is the first week we’ve been baking with the 2026 crop of Red Fife, a hard red wheat that’s in everything we make. This year’s crop boasts an impressive protein content of 11.4% and a falling number of 356. It’s John’s best crop yet, which is what happens when you practice mindful regenerative agriculture that improves the health of the soil year after year. He mills with a New American Stone Mills which is the best there is. We’re incredibly lucky. It’s a joy to work with this flour and to pass along the love and care that goes with it. That’s the mission and we’re sticking to it 🌾

Please join me in wishing our very own John a happy three year anniversary at Good Hands Bread Co. We would not be here without John. Everyone knows him, to know him is to love him. Heck he probably knows your name, or at the very least your order. He’s woven into the fabric of this business, he’s woven into the fabric of the 2nd Street Market, and he’s woven into the fabric of our hearts. Thanks for everything John, here’s to three more years.
