Hey everyone! Long time no post. 💜 I figured it was finally time for a little life update.

Our home build on the new land is coming along wonderfully, and it has easily become one of my favorite parts of the day. Every evening, I love going out to see what changed while we were gone and how much more progress has been made. We officially have walls, windows AND a roof that is shingled and all! They’re starting on our back porch this week, along with plumbing, and it’s all starting to feel so real.

I’ve also been busy getting everything lined out for the inside. Final stages of picking things out without changing my mind, purchasing tile, lighting, plumbing fixtures and, of course, all the pretty things we absolutely do not need yet… but that I’m convinced will go out of stock the second I decide to wait on them! Next spring/summer truly can’t come soon enough.

I’ve been a little absent lately, not only from here, but honestly from some of my personal relationships too.

My mom has an uncommon disease that has rocked our family, and she is now in the end stages of her life. I’m struggling with that on a lot of different fronts. We always knew this day would come, and I thought I had been preparing myself for it for years, but now that it’s actually here, it’s a whole different ballgame. We’re navigating that the best we can while also trying to be a support system for my dad, who is on the front lines of it day in and day out. It’s a season of life I don’t think anyone is ever truly prepared for.

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been working on the light show land. Organizing, taking things down where needed, and trying to decide what the future holds for Columbus Country Christmas. We don’t want to let Columbus down, so trust me when I say we are doing our best to come up with a solution that makes sense and is beneficial for everyone.

Outside of all of that, I’m still just one mama to my four guys and a wife. Daily life certainly doesn’t stop rolling just because life gets heavy. There is still laundry every day, dishes, homeschooling, never ending cooking for three growing teenage boys, and purchasing more groceries in one sitting than any household should legally be allowed to consume.

Now onto some of the good stuff!

Although keeping up with the farm stand became entirely too much for me right now, I’m still very much behind the scenes.

My brother asked me the other day how many chickens I had, and I was honestly scared to even count. But I finally did…

54 chickens and 17 guineas.

Apparently we’ve become a small poultry nation.

Only about half of my girls are laying right now. The other half are still young and won’t start laying until late fall or winter. But all of my eggs now have a home at My Whole Kitchen here in Columbus!

I met Kristen years ago around the Covid timeframe, and recently I reached out to ask where they were getting their eggs for the kitchen. One conversation led to another, and now I get to drop off my girls’ goods to her. I absolutely love getting to keep things local.

And there’s another exciting little development!

There is a new west side gem here in Columbus called The Property, and it is absolutely stunning. I went in for breakfast with my dad and youngest on opening day, and the chef himself stopped by our table to ask how everything was.

Of course, being me, I asked if they planned to offer sourdough or more baked goods. He mentioned that the person they had originally planned to use hadn’t worked out, so I offered to make a few select things.

For the last few weeks, I’ve been dropping off cookies, and now muffins too!

So if you’ve been missing some of my baked goods, you can head over to The Property, grab a delicious meal, and hopefully find a sweet treat waiting for you too.

And for one last fun update…

We had two more new kittens join the clan! 🐾

We needed mousers for the land, although judging by how attached the boys already are to their kittens, I’m not entirely convinced any of them are going to understand that they have jobs.

Burger, Pig, Enola and Lafawnduh (Napoleon Dynomite had to make an appearance somewhere!) but we call her Louie 😂

Life has been incredibly full lately. Some parts exciting, some beautiful, some exhausting, and some incredibly hard.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck around, checked in, supported us, and patiently waited for me to get it together these last several months. I may be quieter than I used to be, but I’m still here.

Today we tried the new local restaurant The Property on opening day, and it was a 10/10! Everything was absolutely delicious, and the coffee was fabulous. Such a great addition to the area!

If you’re local, definitely go check them out! ☕️🧇

Controversial post here… but guys, if it’s not your land, please do not come on it and dump your weeds/brush pile. If it’s not your land, do not go on it in general. Don’t take your side by sides in. Don’t come and steal equipment.
I legitimately can’t wrap my head around it to be honest, as I’d never just look at someone’s gravel entrance and think “ya, here looks like a good spot”. Gates, locks and cameras going up.

Yesterday, while the boys and I were inventorying everything in the barn, we kept hearing tiny little meows. After a bit of searching, we found two sweet kittens tucked away inside some of the displays. Sadly, we later found two more that weren’t as lucky.

Then, as if the day hadn’t surprised us enough, I went out last night to check the incubators and found our guinea keets hatching several days early!

Needless to say, it wasn’t exactly the day I had planned, especially after getting attacked by a family of wasps at our mailbox and ending up with what can only be described as an elephant leg. 😅 But we’re rolling with the punches over here.

The boys named this little sweetie Pig. They said I can call her Piglet while she’s tiny, but once she’s all grown up and an official barn cat she’ll just be Pig.

Right now, Pig and the new guinea keets are having quite the stare down, each trying to decide who’s the cutest new addition to 4Bros Farm!

Well… I guess the cat’s officially out of the bag. ❤️

Now you all know why we’ve been just a little busy behind the scenes these last few months.

While I’ve been hatching chicks, collecting eggs, raising rambunctious boys and doing all the normal chicken loving, homeschool mommin’ things, Luke’s been kickin butt n taking names dominating the diesel industry with his business S&S Diesel Motorsport, while we’ve also been working on something much bigger for our family homesteading compound.

We’ve been caring for a whole lot of new land, around 190 acres total, removing thousands of Christmas lights and displays so we could make way for our future home entrance, cleaning up the property, dreaming, planning, and trying to figure out what this next chapter is going to look like.

It’s been exciting, overwhelming, exhausting, and honestly, such a blessing.

If you followed us because of Columbus Country Christmas, welcome! If you’ve been here since the beginning, thank you for hanging in there while we couldn’t say much!

This page is where we’ll be sharing it all. Our homestead. The home build. The animals. The land. The projects. The victories. The setbacks. Everything that comes with building our family’s dream from the ground up.

We’re so excited to finally bring you all along for the journey!

🥞 Saturday Morning Pancake Pre-Order!

Just putting a feeler out there…

Would anyone be interested in fresh-milled flour sourdough pancake batter for breakfast this Saturday, Independence Day!

This is truly the best of the best. Soft, fluffy pancakes with the perfect hint of sourdough tang, made completely from scratch with fresh milled soft white wheat berries.

The best part? It’s fully prepared! Just heat up your skillet, pour, add some blueberries or chocolate chips if you’re feeling fancy, flip, and enjoy. Fresh, homemade pancakes without any of the mixing or measuring.

If there’s enough interest, I’ll make up a batch this week! Let me know below if you’d like one reserved. 🥞
