For those who are grieving too, I'm so sorry for our loss. There are no words for the hole left in this world by Lexy's absence. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to help Katy, Michael and Peyton. They are dealing with the unimaginable, and the simplest of tasks are incredibly overwhelming right now. I am coordinating meals, donations, and my daughter Sofia and I are keeping our promise to fulfill one of the first 2 items on Lexy's bucket list in her honor by the end of this month. Pray for them to have the strength and peace needed in the days to come.

I am listing below in order of priority the immediate needs as they face the daunting tasks that lay ahead while grieving. Please comment or message me directly here if you have any questions.
If there's anything you would like to do outside of this, for now please let me know so I can run it by them and coordinate with you, but these are the immediate needs. Things are very raw and as things come up I will expand the list.

1. Funeral arrangements are being made and currently they are facing the financial reality of doing this. Donations to their Venmo account if anyone should feel led to do so are a direct injection of cash for them to be able to use as needed for those expenses, as well as anything else they may need. 2. I have set up a meal train. for the forseeable future. We are asking that as much as possible, you sign up primarily for gift cards to restaurants and delivery services. Appetites are fleeting right now, and this will allow them to order or drive through or have delivery when hunger strikes. This will help because cooking will not be on the top of the priority list.

3. One of Lexy's bucket list items from last weekend was to make a donation to Children's Hospital of Atlanta to the cancer floor for kids who are stuck there in bed for long care stay and have nothing to do. My daughter and I have taken this task on to complete in her honor. We are taking donations via cash app $FifarellaPitts to purchase these items, as well as actual small handheld activities like crayons, coloring books, word search books, small sketch pads and pencils, colored pencils, card games etc. and I'd be happy to coordinate with you if you wanted to donate the physical items instead of the money. They can be for all ages, they just need to be small handheld activities that can be done in the hospital, possibly in bed. My goal is to have those delivered before the end of the month.

Today you gained your wings, my kind, loving, beautiful, caring, determined, loyal and silly little friend. I am so very grateful to have met your momma all those years ago, and to have had the opportunity to see you go from a feisty little girl to a fierce young lady. I am so very grateful that I got to hear one last 'love you bunches side mom', got to receive a hug, and that today, I got to kiss you one last 'see you later'. Your smile was contagious, your heart and selflessness beyond your years and everyone who was lucky enough to know you, is brokenhearted without you. I know you're dancing to Tay-tay tonight, you are healed and free, but that doesn't help that you are so very missed. I love you Lexy, we all do.

For those who have asked how to help or what you can do, Katy has asked me to coordinate some things. For right now, arrangements need to be made to lay Lexy to rest, and whatever you feel led to send them to help is appreciated. I have received this so many times today almost all of them with a type of message that hurts my heart, like this is an "opportunity" for the remaining 3 bakeries. Listen, THIS SUCKS. If this doesn't make you sad, it should. They've been a staple in Columbus for over 20 years. I don't pretend to know why they're closing but everyone wants to ask why small hometown businesses like this are closing everywhere.

Baby, it just takes one look at Facebook marketplace and what box stores are doing, to know why non franchise brick and mortars struggle to compete. Before you come at me, let me say I too started as a home business, but I knew what I was putting in and what I needed to sell for to make a profit, I learned the business before I started a business. I talked to other local bakers about their pricing and didn't undercut, I support others because you never know when you're going to need them and vice versa. Between not knowing what to price your items at to make a profit, which lowers market value for everyone, and box stores watching and learning from the treat makers and cakers out there, everyone loses. COVID brought entrepreneurs out of the wood work, and listen I APPLAUD THAT, I think we have a ton of amazing products because of that. I'm not knocking it, I'm giving a perspective you may not have. For example think about the cocoa bomb craze, $6-8 each makes an ok profit, using quality ingredients makes a difference in the cost, so does making them detailed. Walmart mass produces them and sells them wrapped in foil with no decor for half that. It's poorer quality, it's a smaller and not customized bomb, but at that price point, you're gonna probably buy it, and for businesses, it's hard to compete.

Now I'm all about being my own competition, anyone who has ever come to me when I'm booked knows I'll refer you to the other bakeries in Columbus and I have 2 home bakers I refer to as well, but they know their worth. They're not out here selling 9" red velvet for $25 practically paying people to take their product instead of making a profit. If you think I'm wrong, ask on your page who to go to for a product - any product that is custom - you'll get 50 comments most will not be a licensed business. I love what I do, but I have to pay my bills too.

Columbus Corner Bakery I am saddened to hear this, you gave me hope we could all survive the COVID aftermath, and I personally appreciate the business you sent my way. I KNOW this couldn't have been easy, I pray you all find peace in this decision and wish you the best in whatever you decide to do next.
