Khadija Adams is the founder of Deez Cookies , a Central Ohio bakery that uses small-batch bakes as a tool for storytelling and connection. Her rotating themed cookie boxes pair delicious treats with literature about historical figures, from civil rights activist Ella Baker to Dr. Isabel Morgan, who helped discover the polio vaccine. 🍪You can find Deez Cookies at local farmers markets and online. Our favorites include the sweet potato chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin (of course!), and the Patty Minx Chex Mix (criminally addictive).

We're excited to welcome Khadija as an Oatmeal Cookie judge, joining the Columbus Cookie Classic for the first time!

Isabella Bonello is the talented owner and baker behind Three Bites in downtown Columbus. Her diverse menu, which includes everything from ube pandesal to cornettos, reflects her Filipino and Italian roots. Before starting Three Bites, she honed her skills baking at Pistacia Vera and L Brands, among other places.
Fun fact: Isabella regularly donates her leftover baked goods to our nonprofit partner, Columbus Food Rescue . We're grateful that she contributes to the community in so many ways and excited to welcome her as an Oatmeal Cookie judge, joining the Columbus Cookie Classic for the first time!

National Dessert Day seems like a great day to start introducing our Judges for the Columbus Cookie Classic, Sunday, November 8th at Seventh Son Brewing !

Koku Asamoah is a home baker who loves baking for his community and friends. Through a good friend of his, he found out about the Columbus Cookie Classics' first Chocolate Chip Cookie competition and entered, excited to participate and meet new bakers across the city. After winning the inaugural CCC Blue Ribbon and earning a ribbon for his brownies in the Baking Classic, Koku returns for our second competition, this time as a judge.

What an amazingly sweet day. 🍪

100 cookie recipes.
100 bakers.
150+ total cookie tasters.
One room. One cookbook. One challenge our bakers took on with gusto.

The Columbus Cookbook Challenge was a whole lot of cookies and a LOT of community.

A huge thank you to our sponsors, ECDI , for helping make this day possible, to Joel Lewis Photo for capturing it all, and to Swan Dance Apothecary & Tea for bringing the perfect tea pairing to the cookie table.

Thank you to our planning committee and volunteers who organized and executed a great day.

And a very special thank you to Vaughn Vreeland for sending a signed book AND a video message for our bakers. What a special way to celebrate the cookbook that brought us all together.

Most of all, thank you to our 100 bakers and 50+ tasters for showing up and taking this challenge on with so much enthusiasm. You made this day something really special.

And we're proud that this sweet day also gives back. 100% earned from the Columbus Cookbook Challenge Taster Tickets benefit the Gifts of Kindness Fund at The Columbus Foundation.

Good cookies. Good people. Good cause.
We'll call that a win. 🍪
Let's do it again??

Bakers, this is your final call. Tomorrow night, the oven door closes.

If you’ve been thinking about entering the Columbus Cookie Classic happening Nov 8th, wondering if your cookie is really that good, or telling yourself you’ll sign up “later,” THIS IS LATER!

Baker Applications closes tomorrow, Sunday, September 20 at 11:59 PM.

Two categories. Two chances to put your cookies on the table and see how they stacks up:
🍪Oatmeal Cookie (any mix-ins except chocolate)

🍪WE’RE HALFWAY THERE!🍪

The Columbus Cookbook Challenge is 50% of the way to our goal of 100 Columbus bakers baking all 100 cookie recipes in Cookies: The Best Recipes for the Perfect Anytime Treat by Vaughn Vreeland and New York Times Cooking.

That means we still have plenty of recipes waiting for Columbus bakers to claim.

This is not a competition. There are no judges, scores or trophies. Just a group of bakers coming together to take on one very ambitious challenge, bake a whole lot of cookies and build some community along the way.

Claim your spot for a 🍪 recipe today! Not sure which recipe to choose? Sign up as a wildcard baker and let us choose for you. You can also volunteer as an emergency baker and be ready to step in if a recipe becomes available.

Join us Sunday, October 4 at the ECDI Event Space as we work together to BAKE THE BOOK.

Help us get to 100 🍪

Sign up now and we’ll send you the 🍪 recipe list so you can claim your cookie.
