Another longtime customer orders raspberry-chocolate macarons from me every September to include with the food options at the Tecumseh Land Trust fundraiser. She drove over from Yellow Springs yesterday to pick these up for the event last night. She mentioned that the sunflower field is in bloom now and open anytime. ♥️ These are made with almond flour, organic sugar, eggs from Truest Farms and honey from Dave Noble - both vendors at the Grandview Heights Farmers’ Market , Snowville Creamery cream, and fair trade organic Valrhona chocolate.

Raspberry-blueberry tarts coming out of the oven last night. One of my longtime customers put an order in to enjoy some now and freeze the rest to have later. The raspberries are homegrown, the blueberries were purchased at the Grandview Heights Farmers’ Market from Blueberried Alive! this summer and frozen, and the pâte brisée sucrée is made with organic flour & sugar, homemade Snowville Creamery butter, pastured eggs from Truest Farms and a little salt. I appreciate having so many wonderful farmers and producers making products that I can use for my creations. Thank you! ♥️

When I was in pastry school in France, they often had red and black currants for us to use to decorate the desserts we made (see last photo of a Tarte Créole). Back home, these weren’t available locally so I decided to start growing some and bought plants from Foraged & Sown. I’ve also had a couple of friends who grow red currants and have shared them with me over the years. I use the red currants in raspberry-red currant tarts and have made red currant jelly and pâte de fruits with them. I was searching for something to do with the black currants and found this recipe for crème de cassis in Imbibe Magazine. I made it a couple of years ago using vodka and the recommended amounts of red and black currants, and it was delicious. This year, I’m trying a batch with black currants only. Crème de cassis is used with white w**e for a drink called Kir and in champagne/sparkling w**e for a Kir Royale. I saw that Franklinton Farms has black currants right now and thought I’d share this for those of you who might be interested in making your own. Santé! 🥂

Thanks for the orders today! A couple of times a year we offer individual mocha chocolate cakes that are the same cake/frosting we use for the bûches de Noël - homemade butter, chocolate 🍫 😋.

We’re on a break right now from our business, but we wanted to share this post from the Goodie Shop in UA. Thank you for caring about our immigrant community members 💙. My husband, Terry, who many of you know as he has delivered pastries or sold them to you at markets, has been teaching English as a Second Language since 1991, most of that time at Columbus State Community College. His immigrant/refugee students are hard working, kind people who contribute so much to our community and make us better people for knowing them. What’s happening in this country to our fellow humans is despicable. Please call your senators today to tell them to vote no on the $10 billion of additional funds for DHS/ICE, Senator John Husted 1 (202) 224-3353, Senator Bernie Moreno 1 (202) 224-2315 or (614) 469-2083. If their mailboxes are full you can leave an online comment, https://www.husted.senate.gov/contact/, https://www.moreno.senate.gov/contact/. The bill was already approved in the House. The vote in the Senate should happen within the next 24 hours. Your purchase of one of the cookies will benefit two wonderful local nonprofits that help immigrants, CRIS and Our Helpers.
