Be sure to budget for that design and/or cake artist you have been eyeing. Be honest with your cake designer about your budget, but also realistic. Be sure to start cake shopping at least 1 year in advance. This way you have an idea of your style and prices. Also, this gives you enough time to book the artist of your dreams and potentially work out a payment plan.
Wedding Cake Designer tip of the day:
Great cake isn’t cheap. Cheap cake isn’t great. You never want to be known as the cheap cake artist in your area. Be sure to charge your worth. But make sure your prices matches your skill level and quality of ingredients you use. Also, be kind and work with your couple without jeopardizing your artistic side. Offering a payment plan is a great option if your couple is booking well in advance.
Oh, life definitely happens!!! If you are thinking of giving up, don’t!!! You must . Are you having a slow week? Use that time to work on administrative tasks or try that new recipe you’ve been waiting to try out. Improve your and/or . Always believe in your dreams. They were given to you for a reason. Don’t forget the passion you had when you started. Think back to what inspired you to take that initial leap.

When you apply for a job, one of the deciding factors for accepting the position is the pay rate. Isn’t it? So why as an do we feel the need to not pay ourselves an hourly rate? You deserve to pay yourself for all the hard work you put in.
When I first started I was overwhelmed, overworked and underpaid. Sometimes, not paid at all 😰.
Now, I’m proud to say that I am PAID and WELL RESTED 🙌.
Be sure to not only account for your materials and utilities, but also for your hourly rate. Think of it this way, how much would you accept as a rate for your craft if you came across it as a job listing?

Being a mom is amazing. Being a has its pros, but definitely also has its cons. So many other vendors ask me how I balance work, 3 children, and being a wife. Let’s not forget being a . Child, that’s a job in itself lol. For years, it wasn’t easy. Eventually, we figured it out. It’s all about having a schedule and being organized. Do not take last minute orders. Be sure to be picky with what work you accept. Also, a big part is accepting you need help. Build a team you can trust when it comes to your business. I am so grateful for mine ❤️.
It’s never too late to be who you might have been. Yes, growth is uncomfortable. Growth is also painful, but staying where you are will hurt you more. Keep going and keep growing. Trust me, you won’t regret.

It’s not really 🤷♀️ more like 🤔. Giving these tips a day early because we can talk about everyday. No, but I honestly thought today was lol 😂 it happens and I’m human 🙌 so enjoy these tips a day early 😁
Client tip of the day:
It’s never too early to cake shop. Be sure to book at least one year prior to your event. Why so early? This gives you enough time to shop around and book your tastings accordingly. Also, if you have your heart set on a designer, they will be more likely to have availability.
Wedding Cake Designer tip of the day:
Do not overbook yourself. You should be dedicating your time to your client. Wedding cakes are an investment and your client should be your top priority. If you are overwhelmed or overworked it will show.
What’s the secret to go from the cake on the left to the cake on the right? Caking with confidence. Cake on the left is from 2007. Cake on the right is from 2021. Don’t quit ✨.
✨Others will only see your success. They will never see the sleepless nights, blood, sweat and tears. I’m here to tell you not to quit! As you grow be sure to charge according to your growth. What do I mean by that? Increase those prices! If your skills have grown, why shouldn’t your prices reflect that? Remember this, the cost of living goes up every year. So should your prices!
