Good morning beautiful Clarkston Michigan,
My apologies for never getting a post out yesterday.
We were so busy celebrating Opening Day 2026 with Independence Township Parks and Recreation, that I completely forgot to post. Although it didn't matter, you came anyway and we completely sold out.
I couldn't be a bigger fan of the program Independence Township puts on every summer. Especially for a simple but large family, who want to play competitive ball but don't have the time, will, or resources available to play travel leagues. Independence Township P&R hosts an incredible league, for all ages, and we quite literally have the time of our life playing in it.
I couldn't speak more highly for Noah Burgess and his entire crew of umpires and Staff Supervisors. My two oldest umpired their first two games yesterday (one of them being their little brother's game), before playing their own softball and baseball games.
My dad, who loves baseball more than life it's self, whom was the founding father of the Clarkston Riverdawgs way back in the late 1900s, gets to coach my son's team, and instill in these boys a genuine love for baseball.
It's just blessing upon blessing upon blessing.
I think I'm going to bring a loaf of bread to every game as a thank you for the many humans (mostly kids) who help run this program and nurture a whole communities love for baseball.
If you're part it, your kids play, you're a VOLUNTEER coach, your kids ump...you work for the township Parks and Recreation department...
Thank you.
Your efforts.
Your consideration.
Your time.
Your patience and humility even though you're trying to win (especially toward the other team and amateur umpires who are doing their best.)
Your love for the sport.
Are invaluable to me and my family.
I pray you all have an amazing summer enjoying America's favorite past time.
Now let's PLAY BALL!
Amen.
PS... There's Guzek Bread.
Lots of it, today.
