We know a good bakery earns its place through familiar flavors and personal connections. That’s why it means so much to us to bring Bread & Salt European Bakery to Tivoli Fest Elk Horn Iowa 🇩🇰

While we may be arriving from out of state, our roots, and our hearts, are tied to the Danish Villages. The recipes we carry are not just products; they are pieces of family heritage and history. Each pastry and loaf reflects both where we come from and the care we put into every small batch we make. We stay true to traditional European methods with exceptional quality flours, sugar, salt, and ryes, all imported directly from Eastern Europe, to preserve the depth of flavor and texture that define old-world baking. It’s a slower, more intentional process, but one we believe is absolutely worth it.

This visit, we’re especially excited to share some of our most meaningful favorites: Lillibeck Ruller, Elskers Knude, Kringle, Rugbrød, Kransekage, and more. Each has its own story, with some named for family from Elk Horn-Kimballton that inspired them. We'll also be returning with our Marcipanstængerne, a winner in last year's Rhubarb Re-Imagined competition.

We’re so excited to share that Bread & Salt will be celebrating and vending at this year’s Tivoli Fest in Elk Horn, Iowa over Memorial Day weekend! 🇩🇰

Elk Horn-Kimballton is more than just a market location for us. It’s home in the deepest sense. Kate’s parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents were all part of this close-knit community, and it’s through them that a love of Danish baking first took root in our family.

We still think of Vita’s oatmeal toasties and sprutter shared over afternoon coffee, and Mildred’s famous layer bars and Danish cookies that no one could ever stop at just one. Those recipes, those memories, and the care behind them continue to shape everything we make today. Every loaf, pastry, and dessert at Bread & Salt is handmade from scratch with that same spirit - thoughtful, simple, and meant to be shared.

We’re honored to return, celebrate our Danish heritage, and serve this wonderful community. We can’t wait to see you aTivoli Fest Elk Horn Iowawa Skål! ❤️??
