MEET KOICHA 🍵
Thick matcha.
Exclusively at Berkeley.
We’re introducing something very special at our Berkeley shop only: Koicha Lattes.
Koicha literally means “thick tea.”
Unlike the lighter usucha, thin whisked matcha most of us are familiar with, koicha is traditionally prepared with a much higher concentration of matcha (double matcha, half the water) creating something extraordinarily rich, silky, and intensely flavorful.
We’re using our Level 1 Koicha Grade: Sokuchouzan, made from 100% Samidori.
Sokuchouzan translates to “Long Breath on a Mountain Peak.” ⛰️🍃
The name evokes that feeling after climbing to the top of a mountain: the accomplishment, the clarity, and that long, deep breath you take when you finally reach the summit.
Sokuchouzan is smooth, nutty, balanced, naturally creamy, and beautifully rich without harsh bitterness.
It’s wonderful prepared traditionally as usucha or koicha, but when we turn it into a latte?
It is ridiculously luxurious.
Thicker. Creamier. More matcha-forward. 💚
Come experience our Koicha Latte, now being made exclusively at our Berkeley shop.
