Some things are worth SCREAMING about.

I had a crispy Caesar chicken wrap and a ceremonial matcha at The Screaming Bean last week and it was all fantastic! Each seasonal menu gets better and better. Not to mention the kind, patient customer service and lovely, welcoming atmosphere with a huge selection of books to sit and read right there or to exchange and bring home.

I never leave without a few (or a lot of) bags of the House Blend, an incredibly smooth coffee. My favorite!

I will refund every paid order. Please don’t ask to donate or receive credit, as I won’t be able to keep track of different requests.
If there are special circumstances, like having paid with a gift card that I cannot refund, I will get in touch with you and appreciate your patience.

When I get back to baking or if you see me before then, please don’t bring this up. This is not a game or a marketing exercise. I am sorry that I cannot share more.

“I’m up to here. Can’t take any more.”

That’s what Lola, my 40qt Italian mixer, was thinking as she helped with yesterday’s Brødway loaves. 🤭

43lbs of 100% organic rye sourdough will do that to you! 😮

Don’t listen to Lola. She’s full of it. 😉

🙋🏻‍♀️ Raise your hand if you found this bread special! It is a common loaf in Northern Europe but not easy to find around here.

🤩 Bonus points if you share how you enjoyed it or plan to enjoy it.

Please remember that artisan bread with no preservatives has a limited shelf life: wrap your bread in a towel to conserve moisture, and for longer keeping slice and freeze, well wrapped to keep oxygen out as much as possible. 👌

I participated in an event once where a little boy asked his dad to come see my booth, and the dad said “it’s just bread”.

-“Just bread?” Said the boy.

-“Just bread”, responded the man.

Oh boy, were they mistaken.

Similarly, The Fresh Soap of Bel Air certainly is so much more than “just soap”!

I need to find this booth soon, as I’m almost out of my amazing, lemon scented, solid dish soap!

Owner Laura is not only a knowledgeable, dedicated, hard working and talented soap maker, but an Honest Breads LLC enthusiast and a LOVELY person! The array of scents that she offers is mind blowing in number and in delightfulness. 🤩

🚨SOAP Booth PSA! 🚨 One of the fun things about being at a BIG craft fair is the little snippets of conversation you hear while people are walking past your booth.

And BTW… I have really good hearing!

Just today I've heard..

“More soap??" (Followed by an audible sigh.)”

“Everybody’s selling soap here.”

“Another soap booth.”

And honestly? They’re right! At a big craft fair, there’s going to be some vendor duplication.

But we’re all different, too!

My primary focus is lard based soaps. Another soapmaker may focus more on tallow products. Someone else may specialize in goat’s milk soap. Different ingredients, recipes, scents, styles, & techniques.

So while you may see my booth (or another soap booth) and think, “Just another soap booth…”

Do us ALL a favor...just stop & smell the soap. 🧼

You might just discover something you didn’t know you were looking for.

While you were sleeping, this all happened.
And then some.

Fun facts: did you know that the individual long hairs that stem from a cereal head like rye, wheat and barley, are called “awns”?

And could you have guessed that it took approximately 20,000 seed heads (stalks) of rye to make enough flour for today’s big Brødway loaves? That’s about 500,000 awns 🤯

😆 Fresh, you say? It doesn’t get any fresher!

🍎 I just plucked your apples for tomorrow’s muffins, right off the trees at Lohrs Orchard on Snake Lane.

🤩 The apple c***r is also farm fresh. Add some cranberries and spice, organic yogurt and wild yeast, organic whole grain flour from Frankferd Farms Foods, Inc., Dimitri Olive Oil EVOO and honey, a crisp topping and you get fall-forward HEALTH line muffins 😋
