!!!COOKIE DROP!!!

Our next Cookie Drop is perfect to celebrate the End of Summer, Back to School, or Labor Day. It is a grab bag of our individually wrapped mini shortbread cookies that are decorated to look like the iced animal cookies you remember from your childhood. Each bag contains 15 cookies for $25 or you can choose a bag with 12 cookies for $20.

These cookies will be great for school lunches, your morning cup of coffee or tea, a Labor Day party dessert table, or just to snack on as you wish.

After a wonderful summer vacation, our next cookie drop is about to land! We will post it Sunday, August 16 at 3:27pm. Can you guess what it will be? The pictures in this post from our travels serve as your clues. Comment with your guesses and we will select one of the correct guesses (entered before 3:00 on Sunday) randomly. What is your favorite underrated state/ vacation destination? Let us know in the comments. On the last leg of our trip, Nebraska (Smith Falls State Park and the Niobrara River) would be the favorite underrated state and the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in Iowa would be our favorite underrated destination.

Our return home from the Dakotas took us through Nebraska (Andrew's last of the 48), Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio.

Have you had a vacation fail? Please leave a comment with your story.

On our recent vacation to 12 Midwest states on our quest to visit all 50 states, we did a mix of hotels and tent camping. Our last planned campsite was in Badlands National Park in SD. We had a great 1st night! Our first full day was 115 degrees and there were heat advisories in place. We went back to our tent to get something for lunch befire moving on and discovered our brand new tent had broken in the breeze! We scrambled to find hotels for the 2 additional nights we had planned to camp there. It was an adventure for sure but it ended with 2 bonus nights of air conditioning! We learned that the Badlands got their name from the Lakota people which called them bad lands to travel through. We have to agree. They were beautiful though.

Our next Cookie Drop will post soon and our vacation posts have some loosely related clues in them.

We only saw Devil's Tower in Wyoming and then we spent the longest time in South Dakota of all of the states we explored on this trip. It was our second favorite state out if the 12 this summer. . We saw cave bacon in Jewel Cave, bison and pronghorns in Custer State Park, granite spires on needles highway, Mount Rushmore, and a coyote at Wind Cave! We did not know what pronghorns were before this trip and we loves seeing them all over. We were also surprised by the coyote at Wind Cave because it was in the middle if the day and right by our car as he hunted prairie dogs. I couldn't get the camera ready fast enough to get a great picture but can you spot him?

What was your favorite vacation destination this year? Join the conversation by leaving a comment.

As we explored 12 states this summer as a family North Dakota was our favorite by far! Theodore Roosevelt National Park was a great Park and is one of the underrated ones. We also loved the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. In this post I also snuck in some Montana pictures.
