Stangl's Bakery

Stangl's Bakery "Satisfying Ambridge's Sweet Tooth Since 1920" Stangl's Bakery, on old-fashioned, original bakery along the longest main street in Beaver County.

Started in 1920 by Paul Stangl Sr, this hometown bakery has specialized in cultural recipes and innovated ideas for over 90 years. With it's location now in the original outlet store of the old main bakery (which was formally located at the corner of 13th and Merchant), customers can take a step back in time as the great-granddaughter of Paul Stangl Sr., Lorianne Burgess, has created a local baker

y empire with many of the original counters, cash registers, equipment, and more importantly, the original recipes. Stop in and take a trip back in time, and oh, did we forget to mention the HUGE selection of specialty and penny candy.

Please try to attend our talk at 11am!

Saturday, May 30th, our Press & Progress: Wayzgoose Print Shop Day event is taking place from 10AM – 4PM. Not only is Old Economy Village showcasing the historic presses in their Print Shop, but they are having a talk at 11AM with Stangl’s Bakery, where lady locks may or may not be supplied 😊. They will also be displaying the original press and printing plates they rescued and rehabilitated.

They’re aiming to engage the community by supporting the historic local bakery, connecting the great work they do with the America 250 imitative, and they’d love for you to attend. Visit oldeconomyvillage.org/events for more information!

Hello, fellow history sleuths!

Next Saturday, May 30th, I will be doing a talk at Old Economy about the history of our family’s bakery, Stangl’s. My search has led me to a mystery between my great grandfather leaving his bakery on East Ohio St in the North Side of Pittsburgh, traveling to Arizona with his wife that had contracted a lung disease and died, then returning and briefly having a bakery in New Brighton in 1917.

Does anyone know anything about a bakery in New Brighton in 1917, owned by Paul Stangl or Nick Verbanc(cousin)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
