Mas Antes, back then, todo cambia, , everything changes.
If there was to be a reunion for all those families that were from the surrounding areas of Cuba, there would not be enough room to park your car or truck on bothsides of the main street from one end of town to the other.Our Families, Our Gente that once recided in or near these communities of Cuba were related , small busssines owners, Farmers, ranchers. When the Fiesta came arround everyone showed up. Las Fiestas de Cuba. Las Fiestas de La Jara, Las Fiestas de San Luis, I am sure I might forget a few last names, please join me in rembering those names left out add them to the list , I start with Aragon,Lucero,, Montoya, Segura, Gonzales Tafoyaa, Casaus Lopez, Crespin Carabajal Garcia Montano, Sandoval , Martinez , Chavez, Morales, Trujillo, Ramirez, Cordova ,Cebada,.Gallegos, Gutierrez, Gurule, Apodaca, Herrera,,De Herrera,, Duran, Romero, Sanchez, Taylor, Pruitt, Suazo Dominguez,Madrid, Mestas , Maestas, Oliivas, McCoy, Benavides,Lovato, Chacon, Jaquez,Velasquez, Vasques, Velarde, Valdez, Archuleta, vecinos or amigos to some were The Olsens , Wolfe, Garrison, Vargas, Molona, Oates Clark, Castillo, Toledo Cayadito, Castillo Begay, Amtome, Lewis, Suskey,

The beauty of being from a small community is that we all know someone, you are a tio a tia cousin a niegbor, a friend, a teacher, you are something to some one, a conosido we are all gente, we are all family. Today is more of a somber thought. We have lost a few of our gente our Ke' our people.They all shaped and touched our families our communities in some way. Some have left the community others have remained here all thier lives. Others did not return and still hold a special place in our hearts. With that said we want to send our condolences to each and every family whose family member has pasted, and are now resting in peace. From our family home to yours, we send our condolences.
Family is Family, Friends are friends, Niegbors are neighbors.

Going back to school ment it was that time of the year when you had to ride the bus. I am sure there were lots of local men and women who were bus drivers. Join me in recalling them. We had Eliseo VAldez , Trinie, Ray Lovato, Leroy Crespin, are just a few , each one of them had a story that you can remember. Back in the day Eliseo, had a bus that had a heater next to where he sat , Billy Garrison would sit there and sang. I am sure you can remember our bus drivers thanks to them, we got to school and home even when the roads were bad , share your story,Happy 2026 to 2027 school year. Q

Buenos Dias les de Dios, Ya'hte'eh Abini, La Vida cambia, y tabien nuestro pueblos
Our familias grow and go. The names remain, . So do the names of the places that are near Cuba. Names, like La Jara , Regina Lindrith, Gallina, Coyote, Mesa de Polello, San Luis, Cabezon, San Ysidro. Let me state these places are not part of Cuba. They are thier own communities The families who once lived here will use these surround places as a point to describe the actual place thier family was from. There are smaller communities some are now just ranches. Like Naciemento, Lagunitas, Gonalitos, El Copar, San Miguel, San Pedro, if you remember a name please add it that is the beauty of describing our community. Our Antepasados Named these places if you know why they gave them is name it would be awesome to share with us. As we will soon be the Antepasados too. Our lands and the surrounding area like Torreon, Councilors, Ojo Encino, Naggizee, Crown Point Tohojallie, Jemez, Zia, all have connection in some way. Our cultures celebrate in many different ways but are still the same. The best part is when you speak of where you are from you; you can describe the beauty of the landscapes and the name of what your ancestors named this place before you were born. Thier orgullo when they named these places lives on some are on maps other are in papers and others by word of mouth for you to pass it on

One of best memory about growing up in Cuba La Jara and the surrounding g communities , was not only visit with family when the the Fair was on. Pero the Parade. We were up by 7:00 the animals fed and everyone ready to go the days events. Seeing the horses the floats through slow-moving forward, people waving as kid's everything was big. The blue sky not a hot day but it might rain later. Mom gave us the lecture don't walk away from the truck, go p*e, because the old Shell Station restroom will have a line to wait. Get the tortillas, the burritos, some are papitas, and the others are frijoles and dont forget the miel con peanut butter in gramas old aluminum bowl. Just in case we would get hungry later we could put miel and peanut butter on a tortilla. . Dont forget the Tang and the 2 gallon jug of water. Y Aqui vamos. The horses, the Cuba High School band, the Fire Engine, oh so much to see . The two lane highway 44 was closed both ways. The last float passes by and we make our to the shell station. Para que , porque we need to p*e. Back to the truck. We are all sitting down bed of the truck on an old covija. The line is long so we wait, finally we turn into the the old Johnsons Bar. The dirt road leads to the the pparking lot. Mom gives dad the money for us to enter the rodeo grounds. Up the stairs and to the wooden bleachers, we had our spot. We watched the different competitions. We are getting hungry so Mom tells us to sit and wait. The biggest treat was a hamburger. they were huge. Dad took out his knife and cut it in half, we ate half and would put the rest in dad's lunch box . The burritos were gone from this morning. But the rest of the hamburger would be eaten later. We climbed under the bleachers played
Mom called us they were going to announce the rodeo queen, they come out riding the horses, in 2rd place so and so then, 1st place and then the queen . Pero I cant remember who they were. Ok its getting late, it is time to go home los animals, tienen que comer, so we get everything and make our way to the truck y a la casa we go. But who were the queen back then .
