Next time you visit the Bakery; or even if it's your first time coming in to the store; make sure to stop by our Breadboard.

This is the place where we invite you to try a thick slice (or two) of one of our various hand-crafted and preservative free breads. That way you can try something new or revisit an old favorite.

We always give out thick slices of our various Breads (Honey Wheat, Montana Crunch, San Fran Sourdough, NY Caraway Rye, Green Chile Cheese, Cinnamon Twister, Raisin Cinnamon Walnut, etc.); along with tastes of our assorted Sweets (Cinnamon Rolls, Scones, Dessert Loaves, Muffins, Cookies, Brownies etc.).

We often have Special Items available; such as Caramel Pecan Pull-Aparts (pictured). This way you can see what our Bakers have been doing since 3:30 AM.

You can get your bread plain, or we will gladly add butter (plain, cinnamon, honey, etc.), or one of our housemade spreads (herbed cream cheese etc.).

And if you aren't ready to eat your slice now; don't worry - we'll wrap it for you to take with you and enjoy later.

With the Holiday Season about to begin; make sure to stop by the Breadboard often because you never know what Special Items we're highlighting that day.

So don't pass up the Breadboard - you just might find a new 'favorite'.

Everyone:

We thought we'd share this video from the Great Harvest Corporate Office that was shown at this year's Bakery Convention in Coeur d'Alene Idaho at the end of September.

Partly because this is Great Harvest's 50th year (yes, the company was founded in 1976 in Great Falls Montana), and because the video does an amazing job speaking to our heritage and what we stand for.

Our History
It all began way back in the seventies. Our founders, Pete and Laura Wakeman, were just a couple of college kids who baked amazing scratch-made whole grain bread to help pay their tuition at Cornell University. Newly married in 1975, the adventurous couple hiked the entire north-south length of Montana, falling in love with "Big Sky Country." So much so that they never left, establishing the first Great Harvest bakery in Great Falls, Montana in 1976.

Word spread fast about their uniquely flavorful bread made with pure and simple ingredients and wheat purchased from local farmers. It didn't take long before neighbors asked about starting up their own Great Harvest. In 1978, the Great Harvest Franchise was born and the second Great Harvest bakery opened in Kalispell, Montana.

Our Albuquerque Bakery opened in May of 1989; and we've been in the same location for the last 37 1/2 years.

It is an honor to have earned your trust over the years, and to have become a valued part of your daily lives. It's why we do what we do each day.

Everyone:

Thanksgiving is coming; so plan ahead to get the Stuffing Bread, Rolls, and Sweets that you want for your family's Thanksgiving Dinner.

We are now taking Advance orders for Thanksgiving; both Regular items for pickup Monday - Wednesday (11/23 - 11/25); as well as for our Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Bake on Sunday November 22nd.

So give us a call at 505 293-8277, or stop by and place your advance order; and then check that item off your list!

Just a reminder - the Bakery has a fixed Special Menu for the 3 days before Thanksgiving; so some of the items you would normally get on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, won't be available those 3 days.

As the owners of a local business here in town; we like to share our experiences with other local business here in Albuquerque.

Liz & I have been wanting to check out the restaurant Antiquity, located in Old Towne Albuquerque, for several years; but had never managed to make it happen. Till now.

For our 23rd wedding anniversary, I took Liz there for dinner on Saturday 9/12/26. I wanted someplace special for her for the occasion.

The restaurant is in a building in Old Town that dates from at least 1840, most likely earlier. Tax records only go that far back.

The owner Steve Salazar personally greeted us when we arrived (he recognized Liz from visits to our Bakery (Great Harvest) and was extremely warm & gracious. While waiting for our table he went over all of the evening's specials with us; as well as the regular dinner offerings.

Our table was in a private booth, very cozy, and our server James was great. He's been there 22 years, and it shows.

The food was exceptional; for appetizers we had the shrimp cocktail & the lump crabcakes. Big shrimp cooked perfectly, and the crabcakes came with an amazing Red Chile Remoulade on the side. Both appetizers were terrific; the best crabcakes either of us have ever had.

We both had that evening's special salad; greens & spinach with glazed pecans, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, blueberries, & mandarin orange segments, with a ch*****ne vinagrette. On the side was a small puff pastry filled with Brie. The salad was outstanding in every way.

For entrees my wife had the Barramundi and I had the jumbo Sea Scallops. Again, both were just terrific. Served with sauteed vegetables and risotto or mashed potatoes.

For dessert we shared their chocolate mousse and that nights' special - Key Lime pie. Yummy.

Steve, James, the rest of the wait staff, and the Kitchen Chefs do an amazing job. The food is simply outstanding!

If you want to go somewhere cozy that serves unbelievably good food for that special evening (Anniversary, Birthday, Engagement, etc.) you have to visit Antiquity. You won't be dissapointed - their reputation for exceptional cuisine and terrific service is well deserved.
