As the owners of a local business here in town; we like to share our experiences with other local business here in Albuquerque.
Liz & I have been wanting to check out the restaurant Antiquity, located in Old Towne Albuquerque, for several years; but had never managed to make it happen. Till now.
For our 23rd wedding anniversary, I took Liz there for dinner on Saturday 9/12/26. I wanted someplace special for her for the occasion.
The restaurant is in a building in Old Town that dates from at least 1840, most likely earlier. Tax records only go that far back.
The owner Steve Salazar personally greeted us when we arrived (he recognized Liz from visits to our Bakery (Great Harvest) and was extremely warm & gracious. While waiting for our table he went over all of the evening's specials with us; as well as the regular dinner offerings.
Our table was in a private booth, very cozy, and our server James was great. He's been there 22 years, and it shows.
The food was exceptional; for appetizers we had the shrimp cocktail & the lump crabcakes. Big shrimp cooked perfectly, and the crabcakes came with an amazing Red Chile Remoulade on the side. Both appetizers were terrific; the best crabcakes either of us have ever had.
We both had that evening's special salad; greens & spinach with glazed pecans, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, blueberries, & mandarin orange segments, with a ch*****ne vinagrette. On the side was a small puff pastry filled with Brie. The salad was outstanding in every way.
For entrees my wife had the Barramundi and I had the jumbo Sea Scallops. Again, both were just terrific. Served with sauteed vegetables and risotto or mashed potatoes.
For dessert we shared their chocolate mousse and that nights' special - Key Lime pie. Yummy.
Steve, James, the rest of the wait staff, and the Kitchen Chefs do an amazing job. The food is simply outstanding!
If you want to go somewhere cozy that serves unbelievably good food for that special evening (Anniversary, Birthday, Engagement, etc.) you have to visit Antiquity. You won't be dissapointed - their reputation for exceptional cuisine and terrific service is well deserved.
