🥧 **Share a Pie, Double the Thanks!**

One of our favorite Thanksgiving traditions is back!

For several years now, our customers have helped us provide Thanksgiving pies to local families through our annual pie donation campaign. We're excited to continue that tradition again this year!

**Here's how it works:**

For **$24**, you can purchase a pie to donate to our local food pantries. For every pie purchased for donation, **Dutch Oven Bakery will donate another pie!**

That's two Thanksgiving pies for local families for every $24 donated.

We'll be accepting donations **now through November 12th**, giving us time to bake and distribute the pies before Thanksgiving.

To participate, simply stop by the bakery or call us at 231-548-2231. We'll take care of the rest!

Whether you donate one pie or a hundred, we'll match every one.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make this tradition possible over the years. Let's see how many Thanksgiving tables we can make a little sweeter together!

93 years calls for 93¢ frycakes!

Tuesday, September 22nd we're celebrating 93 years of Dutch Oven Bakery, and we're continuing one of our favorite anniversary traditions — frycakes for one cent for every year we've been around.

That makes them 93¢ each this year!

We'll have:

• Old Fashioned Sour Cream
• Chocolate
• Blueberry
• Old Fashioned Lemon
• Salted Caramel
• Pumpkin

If you're planning on picking up a dozen (or several dozen!), we strongly recommend preordering. Give us a call, 231-548-2231 ,send us a message, or stop in and we'll have them ready for you.

A lot has changed since 1933. Thankfully, a good frycake isn't one of those things.

Sold out of Cinnamon Bread at the Harbor Springs Farmers' Market this morning. With customers waiting for more, we figured the delivery van might be a little too slow.

So, like any practical person, Rob improvised.

To celebrate National Honey Month we'll be highlighting some of the different ways we use honey around the bakery throughout September. We figured this was a pretty good place to start.

Baklava, one of the best uses of honey.

Layers of flaky phyllo, walnuts and cinnamon, then drenched in honey. Baklava has been a favorite dessert around the world for centuries for one reason — it's delicious.

Watch our page this month for more products and some fun facts about honey. And remember, we have some honey samples from the National Honey Board for you to try!

September is National Honey Month! 🍯

We are honored that the National Honey Board picked us to help celebrate. They sent us several different varieties of honey to taste and learn about.

We have Orange Blossom and Buckwheat out for sampling now — and if you've never compared different varieties of honey side by side, you might be surprised by just how different they can taste.

Stop in and give them a try. Which one gets your vote?

We will be doing several posts this month about honey and showing you some of the products we make that use honey. Spoiler alert... we use a lot of honey!

Years ago, our son Nolan had a bad raisin experience. He grabbed what he thought was a chocolate chip cookie. It turned out to be oatmeal raisin. The incident created an unhealthy hatred of raisins that has lasted ever since.

So he set out to make a “Better Butter Tart” by replacing the raisins with chocolate chips. We’ve named his creation the "Toll House Tart". It is very good. Think chocolate chip pecan pie — without the pecans.

Raisin lovers, don’t worry. We’re still making the Canadian classic with raisins.
