One of my special little returning customers requested a hedgehog cake, and this is what we ended up creating 🦔🤎

I absolutely loved making this little cutie. Not only because he turned out so adorable, but because those chocolate spikes reminded me of my own unruly curly hair 😂 By the end of piping them all, I felt like I was making a cake version of myself!

There's something extra special about making cakes for returning customers. Watching their ideas come to life and seeing their excitement never gets old, and I feel so grateful to be trusted with their celebrations time and time again.

Happy birthday, Liam! I hope your hedgehog was just as fun to eat as he was to make ❤️🐞

I'm so excited to finally share this special project with you all ❤️

Over the past few months, I've had the privilege of working with talented film students from Massey University as part of a documentary project celebrating the people, stories, and small businesses that make Wellington unique.

This short film tells the story of Ladybird Cakes – how it started, what inspires me, and the passion, creativity, and love that go into every cake I make.

As a one-woman business, I'm usually behind the scenes baking, decorating, and planning the next order, so being on the other side of the camera was definitely outside my comfort zone! Seeing my journey and business captured through someone else's eyes was both humbling and incredibly special.

A heartfelt thank you to Massey University and the wonderful student filmmakers who dedicated so much time, effort, and creativity to bringing this story to life.

And to everyone who has supported Ladybird Cakes over the years – whether you've ordered a cake, attended a class, shared a post, recommended me to a friend, or simply cheered me on from the sidelines – thank you. Your support has helped turn a passion into something truly meaningful.

Feeling so grateful to have been invited to the PAWNZ Women’s Day Event as Ladybird Cakes 🩷

It was such a beautiful evening filled with inspiring women, meaningful conversations, culture, connection, and community spirit. I loved being able to contribute with cupcakes for the night and be part of such a special event 🐞

A huge thank you to the Pakistan Association Wellington - PAWNZ for having me, and to everyone involved in creating such a warm and uplifting atmosphere.

So lovely to see communities come together to celebrate, support, and uplift one another ❤️

Had so much fun creating this cute little dino cake for Jake - complete with jungle leaves, dinosaur eggs, and all the prehistoric vibes. Sometimes the simple cakes end up being the sweetest.

There’s something truly special about returning customers and I am so thankful 💚

This beautiful cake was ordered all the way from Australia - the second time I’ve had the honour of creating something meaningful for this lovely whānau. This time, it was for a very special milestone… a 60th birthday for a much-loved dad 🥹

The brief was close to the heart: incorporate the koru fern and the rich pounamu tones of Aotearoa. And what a privilege it was to bring that vision to life.

The koru represents new beginnings, growth, strength, and peace - a perfect symbol to celebrate a life, a journey, and the legacy of a father.

Creating cakes like this reminds me what Ladybird Cakes is all about… telling stories, honouring culture, and celebrating the people we love through something made with care and intention 🐞✨

Hari huritau ki a koe! ❤️
Happy 60th birthday - may the years ahead be filled with continued growth, strength, and joy.
