This one was a little more special than usual. πŸ’•πŸ§Έ

I’ve known this beautiful family for 18 years, so getting to make a first birthday cake for the newest little member of the family felt incredibly special. It’s funny how life comes full circle sometimes - from knowing the family for all these years to now being part of such a sweet milestone.

And the best little bonus? I got to have a cuddle with the birthday girl too. πŸ₯° Definitely made this delivery one to remember!

Happy 1st birthday to this precious little girl. πŸ’— I hope your life is always filled with as much love as you’re surrounded by today.

And a special shout-out to Sugar plum fairy cakes and toppers for the gorgeous teddy topper πŸ§ΈπŸŽ€ it brought the whole cake together perfectly.

This cake was created to make a special journey to Auckland during all the wild weather we had last week! I can only hope it arrived looking just as beautiful as when it left my hands. ❀️

Sending cakes away always comes with a little excitement (and a few nerves!), especially when the weather has other plans.

Some cakes are special... and then there are cakes like this one. ❀️

When I received the call for this surprise birthday cake, my heart was so full. This beautiful whānau has become so incredibly special to me over the past year. They've welcomed not only my cakes into their celebrations, but also me. It is a privilege I never take for granted.

From placing orders all the way from Australia, to trusting me with yet another special milestone, your support means more than words can ever express.

This cake was a surprise from an amazing husband for his beautiful wife. The brief was simple - coffee flavour, with her favourite colours: orange, blue and green. Together, her husband and I came up with this abstract painted design, finished with touches of gold, and I absolutely loved how it came to life.

But the best part? Seeing the look of complete surprise on her face when I arrived with the cake. That moment alone made my day.

And every single time I see her, she greets me with the biggest hug. Those hugs are worth more than any payment and remind me exactly why I love what I do. ❀️

Thank you for continuing to trust me with your family's most precious moments. It is an honour to play a small part in your celebrations.

I couldn't stop smiling while making this one.

Those floppy ears, the daisy flower crown, sleepy little eyes, and the sweetest heart-shaped nose all came together to create the most adorable little face.

It's one of those designs that is simple, sweet, and full of charm, proving that sometimes less really is more.

Creating cakes like this is such a joy, and I hope this little bunny brings just as many smiles to the birthday celebration as it brought me while making it. πŸ’•πŸž

Some cakes are just that little bit more special... and this was one of them. 🀍

Created for a beautiful little one's very first birthday, this smash cake was made with so much love. Soft, dreamy colours, delicate touches of gold, and a little bit of magic for such a precious milestone.

To make the celebration complete, it was accompanied by matching cupcakes for family and friends to enjoy while the birthday star had a cake all of their own to dive into. ☺️

What made this order even more special was ensuring everyone could celebrate together. The entire order was dairy-free and egg-free, proving that dietary requirements never have to mean compromising on beauty or flavour.

Happy 1st Birthday to the sweetest little one. Wishing you a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and many more cakes to come. ❀️🐞

I absolutely loved bringing this one to life.
I truly believe there's always room for a little magic in our lives. A rainbow to brighten the day, a unicorn to spark the imagination, and beautiful flowers to remind us to stop and appreciate the little things. ✨

My heart was so full when I received a message afterwards from the customer thanking me for the cake and telling me how happy she was with it. Knowing that something I've created became part of such a special celebration truly made my day. πŸ’œ

I absolutely loved making this little cutie. Not only because he turned out so adorable, but because those chocolate spikes reminded me of my own unruly curly hair πŸ˜‚ By the end of piping them all, I felt like I was making a cake version of myself!

There's something extra special about making cakes for returning customers. Watching their ideas come to life and seeing their excitement never gets old, and I feel so grateful to be trusted with their celebrations time and time again.

I'm so excited to finally share this special project with you all ❀️

Over the past few months, I've had the privilege of working with talented film students from Massey University as part of a documentary project celebrating the people, stories, and small businesses that make Wellington unique.

This short film tells the story of Ladybird Cakes – how it started, what inspires me, and the passion, creativity, and love that go into every cake I make.

As a one-woman business, I'm usually behind the scenes baking, decorating, and planning the next order, so being on the other side of the camera was definitely outside my comfort zone! Seeing my journey and business captured through someone else's eyes was both humbling and incredibly special.

A heartfelt thank you to Massey University and the wonderful student filmmakers who dedicated so much time, effort, and creativity to bringing this story to life.

And to everyone who has supported Ladybird Cakes over the years – whether you've ordered a cake, attended a class, shared a post, recommended me to a friend, or simply cheered me on from the sidelines – thank you. Your support has helped turn a passion into something truly meaningful.
