Our beautiful bride L came to us in 2025 with some inspo pictures and a dream of what her wedding cake may look like. This year in February (on Valentines Day no less) we got to bring her cake to life with all edible candy geodes. I can't get over how stunning and almost magical this photo feels. This two-tier beauty was designed to feel like it belonged right where it stood, surrounded by flowers in Little Akaloa. Soft buttercream, delicate pressed florals, and a palette that echoed the landscape made it the perfect fit for a Ridgecliff wedding.

It’s always such a pleasure delivering when everything is seamlessly taken care of, and the team at Crisp & Vale Catering are truly are amazing at what they do. When the caterers, venue, and styling all work together, it allows the cake to simply be part of the story.

Thirteen years of our beautiful girl 💛

Today we celebrate Willah, our only daughter and the heart behind so much of what we do at Meraki Cake Design.

What many people don’t know is that this business, (first Oh Sugar Cakery, now Meraki Cake Design) was born from my love of creating for her. The birthday cakes, the late-night decorating, the joy on her little face… that passion grew into something bigger than I ever imagined. What started as creating for my daughter, has grown into a full-time small business that now helps provide for our entire family. And she has been part of that journey every step of the way.

When its needed, she’s up early, working long days at Matariki markets and KidsFest, serving customers and your tamariki with a smile, packing boxes, and helping wherever she’s needed. Always kind. Always patient. Always willing.

People often joke, “Hope her mum’s paying her!”, and we smile, because it’s actually thanks to those very customers that she’s been able to buy her own bike, her own laptop, and learn one of life’s most valuable lessons: how much a dollar is truly worth.

She is mature beyond her years, steady, thoughtful, and quietly strong. I am endlessly proud of the young woman she is becoming, not just for how hard she works, but for how she treats people.

To my only daughter, may you always stay grounded, grateful, and brave enough to chase your own dreams. You are absolutely the best you can be, and that is more than enough.
