Everything you see on a wedding day has a story behind it… and sometimes, it’s not quite as seamless as it looks. 😂🤍

I arrived at a wedding venue on Saturday with a beautiful wedding cake ready to be set up.

Except… things didn’t quite go to plan.

I was sent to the wrong area of the venue, redirected to another part of the property, and when I eventually arrived, there was some confusion about how the cake was to be displayed. So I was told to wait and someone would get back to me.

So I waited.

And waited.

And eventually, I decided the easiest thing to do was simply take control and set everything up myself (like I usually do) — including the flowers.

Because ultimately, I don’t want my couples to have to worry about what’s happening behind the scenes.

By the time the cake is sitting beautifully in the venue, the couple should simply be able to look at it and enjoy it.

They don’t need to know about the confusion, the waiting around or the problem-solving that happened beforehand.

That’s part of my job. 🤍

And honestly, after 10 years of creating wedding cakes, I’ve learned that things don’t always go perfectly on a wedding day.

What matters is knowing how to handle them when they don’t.

What actually happens before I deliver a wedding cake? 🤍

It’s not quite as glamorous as you might think… 😂

Before I even leave the house for a delivery, there’s a whole morning of getting myself and the kids ready to come with me and making sure I look presentable enough to walk into a luxury wedding venue 😂

The other day I popped up a poll to see what you guys would like to see more of and many of you voted to see it all 😂 the good, the bad, the prep, the bts,….. so I thought I’d do a little GRWM for a wedding cake delivery, Because being a wedding cake designer isn’t just about designing and creating the cake — ITS ABOUT LOOKING THE PART TOO 😂 😮‍💨

And yes it’s also about the delivery, the venue, the setup and making sure everything is perfect for the couple’s big day. 🤍

Brides… can we talk about wedding cake delivery? 🤍

I completely understand why a delivery fee can feel like just another expense when you’re planning your wedding.

But wedding cake delivery isn’t simply about getting a cake from A to B.

When I deliver your wedding cake, I’m taking responsibility for it.

From coordinating with your wedding venue and discussing display and refrigeration, to making sure the cake isn’t sitting in direct sunlight, waiting if the cake table isn’t ready, finishing details on-site, coordinating with your florist and making sure your cake is beautifully presented…

Sometimes I’m at a venue for up to an hour.

It’s not drop, hand over and go.

And honestly, that’s exactly how I want it to be.

You’ve spent months planning your wedding and investing in your wedding cake. I want you to be able to relax knowing that once I leave my studio, your cake is my responsibility.

Because on your wedding morning, I want you getting ready, enjoying your family and friends and looking forward to saying I do — not worrying about transporting a three-tier wedding cake. 🤍

Some recents wedding cakes over the last few weeks…..

Wedding season was in FULL SWING this summer, so much so that with the kiddos at home full time I actually got minimal time for social media posts and I’m feeling so blessed and thankful for how busy this summer was….. but also feeling grateful for the slower mornings this week with the kiddos back to school 🥰 I love routine 🙌

And I also can’t wait to share all of the wedding cakes over the summer to give all my 2027/2028 brides some inspo 🤍🥰

Now onto the autumn/winter weddings 🙏

This weekend I celebrated another birthday… 🤍

As I get older, I’m reminded how grateful I am that I get to spend my days creating wedding cakes for one of the happiest moments in people’s lives.

Every couple, every love story and every cake reminds me why I chose this career.

AI gave us the inspiration… and I turned it into a real wedding cake. 🤍✨

When one of my wedding planners came to me with a vision for her bride, we used AI to help create an initial cake concept.

It was a great starting point…

But bringing that design to life took careful planning, craftsmanship, and years of experience to make sure it looked beautiful and was perfect for a real wedding day.

Seeing the finished cake beside the original concept is one of my favourite parts of the creative process.

Wedding planning doesn’t always go exactly to plan… and that’s okay.

This weekend reminded me that being a wedding cake designer isn’t just about decorating beautiful cakes.

It’s about protecting YOUR wedding day.

When the temperatures unexpectedly soared, I knew I had to think ahead. Together with my bride and her venue, we made a small change that meant her cake could still be proudly displayed throughout the day without the worry of the heat affecting it.

The end result?

A beautiful cake.
A relaxed bride.
A venue that trusts me.
And a wedding day that continued exactly as it should.

I love heart-shaped wedding cakes… but there’s something brides don’t always realise.

These vintage heart cakes are one of the biggest wedding cake trends right now.

And honestly? I completely understand why.

They’re romantic.
They’re nostalgic.
They’re incredibly cute in photos.

They’re perfect for intimate weddings and they create such a lovely focal point when you’re cutting your cake.

But here’s the part many couples don’t think about until afterwards…

They’re usually quite small.

Because of their shape, they don’t serve as many portions as a traditional round or square wedding cake of a similar size.

Which means if you’re planning to serve cake to a larger number of guests, you may not actually have enough cake for everyone.

And in some cases, the couple themselves don’t even get a slice after all the guests have been served!

Another thing to consider is scale.

A small heart-shaped cake can look beautiful in a cosy venue.

But in a large ballroom or hotel reception space, it can sometimes look a little lost on the cake table.

The good news?

There are plenty of ways to make this trend work.

You can add cupcakes for extra servings.

You can have a kitchen cake or sheet cake prepared behind the scenes for guests.

You can simply go larger with the heart cake itself.

Or you can add faux tiers underneath to create height and make more of an impact in larger venues.

So if you’ve fallen in love with the heart cake trend, don’t worry.

You absolutely can have one.

Just make sure you’re planning for both the look and the guest numbers.

Because the prettiest cake is the one that works for your wedding too.
