Family-owned artisan bakery, proudly baking proper good food for Hucknall Welcome to Spelt and Rye. We are a new artisan bakery / deli based in Hucknall.

Our aim is to provide the community with the freshest homemade breads, free from additives and using where possible ingredients that are locally produced. We use traditional techniques that promote flavour and enhance the loaf’s freshness. The word artisan signifies handmade and that is what our breads are, ensuring the tastiest crust and crumb.

Evening all, I hope you're managing to keep cool 😎

We're still not able to do the Friday specials this week, but we are working out how we can fit them back into our schedule. It might have to be on a different day of the week but we will keep you updated on that👍

And here are the specials for Saturday

- Olive focaccia 🫒 £3.20 per piece

- Cheese sourdough 🧀 £5.20 for a full loaf or £2.60 for a half loaf

Also just wanted to remind you all that we will be closing at 1pm Wednesday and Thursday due to the heat. That goes for both the bakery and cafe!

I want to thank you all for your support for the new Spelt & Rye Cafe, but first I have a really important announcement about this week!

Due to the extreme heat forecast we will be closing both the bakery and cafe at 1pm instead of 2pm on Wednesday and Thursday.
This is to help keep ourselves safe first and foremost, but also because we're not expecting many people to be out during the peak of the heat (as hopefully you will all be staying inside keeping cool)

And now that is out of the way... I want to say a massive thank you for all of your support and kind words over the last week ☺️ we have been a bit all over the place trying to get ourselves organised at the cafe and you have all been so lovely and patient about it

The menu and the hours at the cafe are both subject l to change as we find what works best for us and for the customers. We will do our best to keep you updated through our social media about these changes

Also, if we got any orders wrong last week, or you were waiting a while for your food, please let us know next time you're in and we will make it up to you!

I almost completely forgot to post the bakery specials for this week! It's been such a busy week, thank you for all the support so far 🫶

Unfortunately we'll be too busy to make any specials this Friday, so here are our Saturday specials:

Here is our new menu for the cafe! It's been a bit of a rush this morning already, everyone seems to be excited about bacon and sausage half baguettes being back 😁

This is just a temporary menu as we will be changing it and adding more as we go along

Some of you may have heard the rumours, or maybe you've seen our new sign... Spelt & Rye is expanding! 😁

We've taken over the cafe space just across the way (formerly Lady Di's Eatery) as our new cafe and cob shop 🥪☕

I should definitely have announced this sooner but it's all been a bit manic. We really weren't sure when we'd be able to open up, but now we think we're finally ready....

Spelt & Rye Cafe and Cob Shop OPENS TOMORROW! WEDNESDAY 17TH 10AM - 2PM

We've got something new available every day this week - almond shortbread biscuits! They're made fresh for us by a local lady called Mai.

They're filled with almonds, pistachios, and walnuts and made with almond flour. They are delicious! Just the right amount of sweet 😋 We're selling them for £1 each - available all week

Congratulations to Hucknall Town Warriors for winning the Under 10s football league 🏆🎉We're very proud to sponsor such a brilliant team!

Not only were they thoughtful enough to come and visit us after their big win, they actually bought us a trophy of our own! And now it takes pride of place at the top of our bread shelves 😁 maybe we'll be able to put some baking awards up there with it one day...

Thank you so much to Dan, the team, and their families for including us in your celebrations, it has genuinely made my day!
