Food can be nostalgic, a specific taste, or the memory of childhood dessert. This is why I started making my peach flan ! It is a throwback to the late 70s early 80s . A desert for a special occasion or a Sunday lunch .
I get so many comments from customers at markets reminiscing over this desert, and a few laughs! It was a simpler time when food was lovingly made.
Now for some exciting news…there is a new Food Market… Station Road Food Market starting on the 13th June Thornhill and I will be there along with peach and raspberry flan and a few other desserts.

This was part of yesterday’s early order along with several tray bakes.. I was glad of the early start just to keep everything cool ☺️
Since it has been so hot I thought I would explain how I cope at markets . I use ice blocks under my table cloth, this keeps items cool, market organisers are very accommodating and usually put me in a shady spot. Market hygiene is important. Take note of all my used gloves , there is no point in wearing gloves if you take money, then continue to serve another customer with the same gloves !

It’s market weekend! Tomorrow I will be at Colvend Produce & Makers Market and Sunday I will be at Kirkcudbright Farmers' Market …I have been working my socks of today and looking forward to a glass of 🍷
This morning I deliver a New York cheesecake to a lovely lady , it was her Birthday. The cheesecake is a bit of a tradition, it must be 7 or 8 years that I have been part of her birthday. The family come and visit me at various markets and I have watch their children grow. This morning I was presented with a beautiful bunch of flowers as I handed over the birthday box …I was so touched…it made my day .
