Today is the last day of school.

One day, you’ll realize those school pickups, report cards, and swing pushes were all part of a season that went by too fast.

Childhood slips away in little moments.

So here’s to long summer evenings, sticky fingers, beach walks, and making memories while we can.

Years from now, they may not remember every toy or screen. But they’ll remember who shared ice cream with them.

This spring, our kitchen team was invited to harvest the Qel’Qulhp (Nootka Rose) alongside Jared Qwustenuxun Williams, Jared Qwustenuxun Williams, an Indigenous chef and educator from the Quw’utsun community.

Generous with his knowledge, he shared what elders have taught him about the seasonality of our local food, and how what grows and when it grows is not a coincidence, but by Mother Nature’s design.

The land offers what our bodies need, in the season we need it, and the rose blooms at exactly the right moment.

In recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day, we’re releasing a limited pint flavour: Qel’Qulhp Nootka Rose, a rose syrup ice cream topped with candied rose petals.

$3 from every pint sold goes directly to the Healthiest Babies Possible program through the House of Friendship in Duncan, caring for Indigenous expecting mothers and families on Vancouver Island.

VicWest, you showed up.

We opened our doors Friday and honestly? We weren't sure what to expect. What we got was the warmest welcome we could have asked for - friendly faces, big smiles, and a whole lot of ice cream eaten in our new neighbourhood.

We're so proud to be here. This community has such a special energy and we already feel like we belong.

To everyone who stopped by this weekend - thank you. Truly. You made it feel like home from day one.
