Once again we express our heartfelt gratitude to our friends at The Horton Farmers Market and Christ Anglican Church Port Stanley for their kind support of our fundraiser, Shortbread for Vic. As of today we have met our goal of $1000. Many thanks to all who participated. Please note, we will be taking a much needed break next week for a little R&R and will be back the following week. Many thanks to our friends at The Horton Farmers Market and Christ Anglican Church Port Stanley for your purchases of our Pecans and Pralines shortbread for our fundraiser, 'Shortbread for Vic. Together with your help we have raised $810 so far, bringing us very close to our goal of $1000.

Sadly, my beloved brother, Vic passed away on Thursday August 13th in the early evening, just one week from his 80th birthday. We are grateful for his life and that he is free from pain. We appreciate the support we have received both from our loyal customers, the Horton market staff and our fellow parishioners at Christ Church, Port Stanley. Our fundraiser will continue for one more week. Please help us reach our goal.

I can't say enough about these tarts. Crunchy, maple-y, super-rich pastry. We just ate some straight out of the freezer. We were saving them for family, but oh well. You, however, get to try fresh ones this Saturday at The Horton Farmers Market. You could also try freezing them - if they last that long! Maple Walnut tarts forever!

Thanks again to our friends who contributed to our fundraiser "Shortbread for Vic" last Saturday. News of your generosity has helped to lift my brother's spirits considerably. We will be back again this week at The Horton Farmers Market with more of our delicious Pecans & Pralines Shortbread, Vic's personal favourite, for which we will donate $5 to the Canadian Cancer society from the sale of every box. We plan to keep this fundraiser going until Labour Day. Meanwhile, here are a few more photos of him taken at special moments in his life. Feel free to ask about any of them.

Dear Friends of Higgins House, pleased be advised we will once again be hosting our fundraiser 'Shortbread for Vic' tomorrow at The Horton Farmers Market in order to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. We will donate $5 for every box of this yummy shortbread I created years ago for my brother Vic who is now ill with cancer. Vic's a special guy. Come see us and we'll tell you why.
