It's back! Our delicious Spanish Lemon Cake will be available once again this Saturday in limited quantity at The Horton Farmers Market. Dairy-free and made with top quality extra virgin olive oil, it's rich, yet light and very lemony. Soaked in lemon syrup and topped with crunchy lemon sugar, it's a perfect tea-time treat. In celebration of Mothers Day and as an homage to my dear Aunt Emma, I have, with the input of my cousins, presented our Granny's shortbread in the format she used. My mother Hazel, made this recipe too but being an extremely lazy cook she simply patted the dough into a square pan and left it like that. Only my aunt made them in the true Scottish style but she did not cut them into wedges, simply scoring them, leaving you to break them apart at your pleasure. We have a limited number in this style which will make an excellent gift. Available this Saturday at The Horton Farmers Market 8-12.

Come sample our once-a-year treasure, Maple Walnut Cake at The Horton Farmers Market this Saturday, 9-1. About this cake: by definition it is a nut cake, meaning 50% or more of its dry ingredients consists of ground nuts, in this case walnuts. It's sweetened with maple sugar and maple syrup, then soaked in maple syrup and finally, glazed with a maple glaze. Not ready to commit to a whole cake? Pick up our sampler pack which contains two mini cakes as well as maple walnut tarts, and two styles of maple-themed shortbread. They're all too good to miss.
