This pile of clothes has been sitting in the corner of our room for weeks.

Friday is my folding day. But life got crazy, and the pile just kept waiting.

I could have shamed myself for it. I didn't.
Instead, I read it.

This is what I call a Heat Map spot...
..a place where things keep landing because something in the system isn't working.

So I did a quick Mini MAP reset:
M-indset: no shame
A-ction: fold what I can
P-rogress: one small reset

Not perfect. Just started.

And sometimes that's exactly what the space needs.

Do you have a Heat Map spot in your home right now?

Your clutter is a clue.

The way you keep, store, avoid, display or clear things often reflects how you think, feel and move through your home.

That is why I created the 5 Declorganising Map Types:

🗺️Treasure Map
🗺️Roadmap
🗺️Minimalist Map
🗺️Mind Map
🗺️Heat Map

Each one reveals a different relationship with space.

✅Some people need structure.
✅Some need breathing room.
✅Some need emotional permission to let go. ✅Some need visible systems.
✅Some need fast, functional resets that work with real life.

Before you ask, “How do I organise this?”

Ask, “What is this space trying to tell me?”

Because once you understand your map, the next step becomes clearer.

I have just shared a new blog post introducing the 5 Declorganising Map Types and how they can help you understand your home in a more personal, practical and compassionate way.

Mum may look calm while her mind is mapping the whole house and the household living in it.

The lunches.
The laundry.
The appointments.
The groceries.
The “don’t forget” list nobody else can see.

This month of May, as we celebrate Mother's Day, choose one hot spot and own it.

Without mum asking but...

Because you noticing.

Finally back on the bike with Mr. Map after nearly a year. 🚴‍♀️

What could go wrong… 😅

In case you don't realise this...

You already organise a certain way!

Some people need things where they can see them or they forget they are there.

Others feel better when there is less in sight.

Some like structure.

Others need more flexibility for a system to feel doable.

To each their own.

What makes organising feel harder is when we try to force ourselves into methods that do not actually suit the way we live.

That is what I am going to start unpacking next as I share the different Declorganising Map Types.

I used to think there was a right way to organise.

But a system that works really well for one person can feel frustrating or impossible for someone else.

This is not because the system is bad, but because it was never designed with them in mind.

Most people do not realise that.
They just keep trying harder, hoping it will finally click.

But if you think about it, sometimes the answer is not more effort. It is finding your own map that fits you better.

That is what I will be sharing with you next.

You’re trying to organise in a way that doesn’t feel natural to you.

Some people need structure.
Others need more flexibility.
Neither is wrong.

A lot of organising advice is built for one kind of person, then shared as though it should work for everyone.

I made that mistake myself.

So if it has not been sticking, it may not be because you are failing.

It may simply be that the system is not the right fit for you.

It’s rarely the big mess that catches us out.

It’s actually the little things.

The things we put down for now.
The chair that slowly becomes your instant wardrobe.
The drawer that catches your can't be bothered items.
The small decisions that don’t feel urgent in the moment.

That’s usually how clutter builds.
Quietly and gradually.
In ways our current systems aren’t supporting.

So if it feels like things keep creeping back in, it doesn’t always mean you need to work harder.

It might just mean the system you are using is not aligned with how you naturally live your day to day.

Which spot in your home keeps quietly building up?
