There are times that my industry really is taken for granted, words such as professional are believed as businesses who know their stuff that they have done all the grafting the years of perfecting their skills, knowledge and talent! And then after all this time you start to make the best cakes not using premixes (a customer this week said something that I will never forget “ it’s like reheating not cooking” soooo true)
Developing consistency and when a customer then orders you know 💯 that you can deliver it, no concerns, no sleepless nights worrying because if you know what you are doing you wouldn’t loose sleep right?
So recently I saw a post on Facebook for a call for help a cry that quite literally broke my heart!
This lady asked for a “simple” cake a heart cake in jet black and what she got was a grey cake with poor icing and a print out message in the wrong colour! Did she complain yes she did but the “professional” cake decorator (exact words used on her page) has gone on holiday!!
I messaged her… I striped the cake to the bare cake which was not a heart as it should have been and the buttercream!!! Was fake like the pre mix you buy with no butter actually in it and re iced it and finished it with the piping she asked for!
Why? I did it because I’m the professional not the person claiming to be, I’m not faking it and I am not telling lies!
And I just wanted to help this lady bring the cake to her daughter and let her have the best birthday ever!
Please be very wary, people lie and don’t deliver, check them out and scroll through pictures and feedback and make the right choices! Cheap or expensive means nothing, proof is the key, creditable and looking into persons work! Hoping you can tell the last two cakes are the unwanted designs 👩🏻🍳
