Welcome to Twelve Mile Post Bakery 🥧✨

Our story begins long before our bakery was founded. Nestled in the heart of Bellville, our name pays tribute to the area’s rich history. Before Bellville became the vibrant city it is today, it was known as the “Twelve Mile Post”, a resting place just 12 miles from Cape Town where weary travellers would stop overnight on their journey to Franschhoek and beyond. Known then as Hardekraaltjie, it offered the only firm ground for travellers to rest before continuing their adventures the next day.

In 1861, the town was officially renamed Bellville in honour of Charles Davison Bell, the Surveyor-General of the Cape Colony. Yet the spirit of hospitality and gathering that defined the Twelve Mile Post remains at the heart of our bakery today.

Founded by Danie and Tia Ge**er, Twelve Mile Post Bakery was born from a passion for craftsmanship and a vision to fill a gap in the market for premium shortcrust tartlets. Drawing on their technical expertise and commitment to quality, they invested in creating beautifully crafted tartlets that are as delicious as they are elegant.
