Founded in 1970, Our Story

Founded in 1970. We are the oldest family owned and operated bakery in Texoma, Our family migrated from Germany after WW2, Margaret was a Master baker in Germany at her uncles bakery, she always dreamed of having her own , she worked for other restaurants and bakeries in town, Walter, her husband, worked at a sausage plant, then Marie’s bakery went out of business in 1968, Margaret and Walter took that American dream and made it reality , first changing the name to Margie’s Sweet Shop, and then Introducing her Signature Lemon Bundt cake with long hours, sweat and tears, and with millions of sweets later the third generation of the family bought it in 1994, Michael and Kathleen Gerstner, who also had been in the bakery since 1986, bought it after his uncle Michael Hohfeld, ( Margaret’s son) passed away, and the Gerstner family still continues to bring you the family recipes and make them a part of your family traditions. The Lemon Bundt cake has been a staple in Margie’s since it started in 1970, and continues to be the cake that launched Margie’s. The Gerstner family still brings the tradition home to you, as they offer a range of baked goods, lunches, and sweets. Bundt cakes, ( many flavors), Pies, pastries, cookies, Deli and much more. The Gerstner’s are still owner and operators, and over see all products and services, we know family, and want to be part of your family event. come on in and try a taste of home, we look forward to serving you.
