🌿 Willow Run Acres is closed for the weekend! 🌿

We’re taking a little time to slow down, enjoy some family time, and get everything restocked after a busy week. 🤍

It’s been a busy week of canning at Willow Run Acres! 🫙🍎

So far we’ve made salsa, spiced pears, and spaghetti sauce, with spiced apples, more tomatoes, and green beans on the lineup today!

We’ll also have Spiced Pear Syrup available this weekend. The flavor reminds me of old-fashioned spiced apple rings — sweet, warmly spiced, and delicious. Use it on pancakes, waffles, oatmeal or ice cream, add it to tea, coffee, cider or mocktails, or use it as a glaze for pork or chicken.

🥚 We’ll also have plenty of fresh eggs:
• About 4 dozen chicken eggs
• About 3 dozen duck eggs, sold by the half dozen

It’s incredibly rewarding to slowly earn an animal’s trust. 🤍

About two months ago, these three brothers — Rigley, Ridge, and Rowan — were on the list to be euthanized. I had never owned barn cats before, and bringing them home wasn’t a decision we took lightly. There were countless hours of research, preparation, and figuring out exactly what these boys would need to feel safe, secure, and at home here at Willow Run.

They’ve each come around in their own time, but Rowan has always been our toughest little guy. Ya couldn’t even look at him without hissing and batting. He’s been the most cautious, the most skeptical, and definitely the least convinced that humans are worth his time. 😂

So seeing this — Rowan actually choosing to play with me — feels like such a huge little victory.

There’s something special about giving an animal the time and space to realize they’re safe. You can’t force trust. You just keep showing up, caring for them, respecting their boundaries, and eventually… you get moments like this.

And suddenly every hour of research, every bit of preparation, and every ounce of patience feels completely worth it. Peep Rigley in the back playing🥹🤍

Safe, loved, and home. Exactly where these three boys were meant to be. 🐾

We’re not trying to wish summer away… but Willow Run Acres is SO ready for FALL. 🍂🍎🎃

As much as we love summertime, our freeze-dried candies and fruits definitely do not love the heat. 😂 But cooler weather is coming, and let’s just say… we have BIG plans for the freeze dryer this autumn.

Willow Run Acres had one of our best weekends yet, and I genuinely wish I knew who all of our cash customers were so I could thank each of you personally!

What you probably don’t see is how excited my littles get when they realize someone stopped by the stand and made a purchase. 🥹 Every sale is a big deal in their eyes—and honestly, in ours too.

Whether you grabbed a dozen eggs, a sweet treat, something from one of our local vendors, or just stopped by to see what we had stocked… thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for supporting our little farm stand and our family. 🫶🏼

Now… who else is ready for crisp mornings, changing leaves, caramel apples, pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, and all the fall farm stand goodies?! 🍁🎃🍎

There’s just something about Sundays. 🤍

The stand is open, banana bread is baking, the house is getting a much-needed deep clean, the animals are tended to, and we’re settling into one of those slow Sunday mornings that I wish I could bottle up and keep forever.
