THE HEART BEHIND BLOOM BAKERY 🌾🤍
It’s been a while since I’ve shared the story of how Bloom Bakery came to be, and I wanted to take a moment to share the why behind everything I do. Because Bloom Bakery started as something so much more personal than just a love for baking. ❤️
It all started with my health.
After being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, I started taking a closer look at the foods I was feeding myself and my family. I began researching fresh milled flour and was absolutely amazed by what I was learning!
Did you know that when most conventional white flour is made, two of the three parts of the wheat berry are removed? 🌾
The bran and germ are removed, leaving primarily the endosperm. But those two parts contain so many of the naturally occurring nutrients found in wheat, including fiber, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and nutrients like zinc!
I couldn’t believe how much of the original wheat berry was missing from the flour we were so accustomed to using.
I had previously been told I had a gluten intolerance, and I struggled with how certain foods made me feel. I started wondering whether the way our food was processed and prepared could be playing a role.
That’s when I began baking our family’s breads and treats using fresh milled flour and sourdough! 🤍
One of the things that fascinated me most was sourdough’s natural fermentation process. During fermentation, beneficial microorganisms begin breaking down some of the components of wheat, including portions of the gluten proteins. While this doesn’t make sourdough gluten-free or safe for someone with celiac disease, it was something I was really interested in exploring for myself.
And personally? I noticed such a difference in how I felt!
I was amazed. Something as simple as changing the flour I was using and the way I was preparing our food had become such a meaningful part of my journey toward feeling better.
But it wasn’t just me.
One of the biggest things I noticed was during our family’s first winter eating almost exclusively homemade breads and treats made with fresh milled flour.
We were hardly ever sick! And on the occasions we did get sick, it seemed like we bounced back so much faster!
Now, I can’t say that fresh milled flour was the reason for that, but I loved knowing that I was feeding my family foods packed with naturally occurring nutrients, including vitamins and minerals like zinc that help support normal immune function. ❤️
And that’s when something started growing in my heart.
What if I could share this with other families, too? 🥹
What if I could provide our community with homemade breads, pastries, and sweet treats made with the same fresh milled flour I had grown to love so much?
Not just another bakery. Not just another loaf of bread or sweet treat.
But a bakery built around ingredients I truly believed in, made with intention, love, and a desire to nourish families.
And that’s how Bloom Bakery was born. 🌸
I truly believe God laid this business on my heart.
In the beginning, I was nervous. I was hesitant. I questioned whether I could really do this. I had no idea what Bloom Bakery would become or how many people it would reach.
But looking back now, I can see God’s hand in it all. Every door He’s opened, every opportunity, every customer, and every bit of growth along the way. He was working even when I couldn’t see the bigger picture. 🤍
And one of the most rewarding parts of this entire journey?
Hearing YOUR stories.
Hearing from customers who have told me how much they love our products, how they’ve enjoyed incorporating fresh milled flour into their family’s diets, or how they’ve personally noticed a difference in the way they feel.
Those messages mean more to me than you will ever know. 🥹
Because THAT is what Bloom Bakery has always been about.
Yes, I love creating fun flavors, beautiful Bloom Tarts, fluffy cinnamon rolls, fresh sourdough breads, and all the other goodies you see each week. But behind every single one of those products is the same purpose that started this little bakery in my home.
To bring something special to your family’s table, using ingredients I would proudly feed my own family.
I truly believe that our commitment to fresh milled flour, traditional sourdough fermentation, and baking from scratch is what makes Bloom Bakery different. 🌾
To every single person who has ordered, visited a farmstand, shared a post, recommended my bakery to a friend, or simply encouraged me along the way…
THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart. ❤️
You have helped turn something God placed on my heart into something bigger than I ever imagined.
I don’t take that lightly.
It is such a blessing and a privilege to bake for your families. I pour so much love into what I do, and I hope you can feel that with every bite.
Bloom Bakery started with my family, but because of all of you, it has grown into something that reaches so many more. 🌸
And I cannot wait to see where God takes it next.
With so much love and gratitude,
Bloom Bakery 🌸🤍
