When Emily of Turtlebacks | Boys Apparel asked me to bake for the US Kids World Championship kickoff party, I was so excited! I’d been dreaming of making tiny little golf shirt cookies and could not wait to get to work. And I think I’m in love with how they turned out! ⛳️🥰

Today is the last of three rounds of competition at the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship, the world’s largest junior golf tournament. Young golfers from around the world come together to compete in a tournament like no other. They know how big the stage is and they all want to do their very best. And, wow, they are impressive!

This cookie set represents a lot for me, personally. I never imagined I’d be a “golf mom.” And I certainly never understood what it would involve.

Unlike other youth sports, there’s no team when you’re out there competing. No one to cover your mistakes. You have to own them. All of them. And that’s hard for a little kid. And it’s also hard for mom to watch!

There’s also no coach out there…just mom and dad. Not only do we drive to the practice. We ARE the practice. And on the course, we are the coach. And when you know next to nothing about the sport, you often feel like you’re not really much help.

I’m not sure how many hours (I’m pretty sure it could have been my full time job) I’ve spent with my son prepping for his biggest tournament of the year, but I am so thankful for the time together…even the time(s) we walked the course in 100+ degree weather 🥵

So grateful for this time. So grateful for this community. For Turtlebacks | Boys Apparel support. For the friends we’ve made. We are blessed.
