Turning my plain sourdough into a pumpkin without changing the actual dough. 🎃🍞
For these loaves, I soaked my butcher’s twine in olive oil overnight, then removed the excess oil before using it to shape the dough.
The twine creates those pumpkin sections as the loaf expands in the oven.
A few things I’ve learned:
🎃 Don’t tie the twine too tightly. The dough needs room to expand.
🎃 Use only twine suitable for cooking/baking.
🎃 Remove all of the twine after baking and before serving.
I didn’t get footage of the actual bake this time because sometimes you’re running a home bakery and getting the orders baked matters more than getting the shot. 😂
But THAT final reveal… worth it.
Would you make your sourdough pumpkin-shaped for fall?
