😔 Our family is currently mourning the loss of my grandma. Without her, this bakery would not be here. We will forever be grateful for the love, support, and belief she gave us from the very beginning.
Today, with a heavy heart and memories rushing through my mind, I still went to work — not for just a few hours, but for a 14-hour day. One of the hardest parts of being a small business owner, especially in a bakery, is that things cannot simply shut down at the last second. This is our busiest order weekend of the week and also a holiday weekend, with many orders having been placed weeks and even months in advance.
At this time, we will not be taking any new orders until we know the date of my grandma’s funeral. This is to prevent us from having to cancel on customers later. Most people have been incredibly understanding, and we are deeply thankful for that kindness and patience.
To the man who became upset that we could not take a last-minute cake order while seeing other cakes lined up for tomorrow — those orders were committed to long ago, and we could not cancel on those customers. There was no option to simply not show up today. We still came in, fulfilled our responsibilities, and greeted everyone with a smile despite the heartbreak we are carrying.
But please understand this: my grandma’s funeral and my family will always come before any cake order. Thank you to everyone showing us grace, compassion, and support during this difficult time. ❤️
