We came, we saw, we ate delicious food, we met amazing people! Our team had a blast seeing everyone and meeting so many of our local supporters and industry brothers & sisters at Taste of Nashoba Valley last week.

Our treat sampling this year was our Flourless Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Coulis topped with whipped cream 🍫

Everyone meet Liz! Liz is the General Manager of Annie’s Gluten Free Bakery and has been Annie’s right-hand for 6 years. Liz loves working at Annie’s because “it’s just a really fun environment.” Her favorite Annie’s treat is the Chocolate Sugar Cookie.

Outside of work, Liz has fostered the same love of baking and cooking in her own family. Her Fiancé hails from the restaurant industry, and her 3 kids all love experimenting in the kitchen as well! She has 9 year-old twins, a food experimenter/taste testing duo, and a 16 year-old aspiring to be a 5-star chef.

Further instilling the love of baking in others, Liz hosts monthly field trips with Making Opportunity Count, Inc., where she hosts kids on a tour of Annie's Gluten Free Bakery and teaches them a fun recipe.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, we’d like to highlight one of the notable women in history who helped shape American cooking: Amelia Simmons.

Amelia published "American Cookery", the first known cookbook written by an American. The Library of Congress considers Amelia’s work as one of the “Books that Shaped America,” for a few key reasons:

American Cookery was the first book to include traditional New England dishes such as Johnnycake, pumpkin pie, and Indian pudding. It was also the first book to suggest serving cranberry with turkey and introduced pearlash, a precursor to baking soda and used as a sourdough starter.

Thank you to all the amazing women throughout history and modern day who have helped build and shape our world.
