Java Beach are independent, mom ‘n pop shops co-owned by San Franciscans husband and wife team, Patrick and Buffy Maguire. Forever a work in progress, Java Beach is their love and life work. Java Beach and Ocean Beach have become synonymous for many including the Maguire’s. Their days are devoted to making Java Beach the best it can be. This process starts with the coffee, where they engage in met

iculous standards of sourcing, cupping and roasting. They apply these standards to every aspect at Java Beach.

Hi all, we have two petitions that are connected, and each needs your separate help and signature. This petition is for the Judah x La Playa intersection, which has cut off access to Java Beach. We appreciate you signing and sharing BOTH today.

We demand that SFMTA:

1. Suspend the current Judah and La Playa pilot and conduct a comprehensive safety and business impact review
2. Reinstate parallel parking on both sides of Lower Great Highway between Judah and Lincoln to restore direct southern access
3. Reevaluate the use of the existing switchback for N Judah layovers to remove trains from the intersection
4. Implement near-term access improvements, including directional signage and restored visibility for small businesses
5. Determine whether CEQA applies to the Judah and La Playa pilot, including whether a categorical exemption was used and on what basis.

We also appreciate the 100's of people who have hand-signed this petition at the Irish Center on Saturday night! The support of the neighborhood overwhelms us with gratitude. thank you

Please sign (and share!) this petition to reinstate 50 parking spaces on Sloat Blvd. Your help is greatly appreciated.

● Loss of approximately 50 parking spaces, reducing access for families, seniors, workers, and local visitors.
● Significant hardship to local businesses, including Java Beach at the Zoo (at 2650 Sloat), a community-serving café operating since 2008.
● Reduced access for older adults and mobility-limited residents visiting the United Irish Cultural Center (UICC) built entirely by volunteer labor and community contributions, promoting and preserving Irish culture in the City since 1971.
● A lack of balance between safety goals and the essential functioning of neighborhood-serving establishments

What a ride!! Today marks 3️⃣2️⃣ years since Java Beach opened on March 20, 1993. All these years later, the spirit of this beautiful, gritty neighborhood remains & keeps us anchored here.

Thank you to all who have helped, worked and frequented us over the years. We are forever grateful & look forward to bumping into you in the cafe.
