A little under two weeks shy of our one year anniversary and we finally have our sign up. 🎉

The night before opening day last year, June 30, we were SCRAMBLING to get the finishing details done before opening the stand. I called my two best friends from high school and said they HAD to come help. Of course they came and we made a mad dash to Hobby Lobby to load up on displays for the baked goods before they closed. Things I had somehow never thought about. 😂

Back home, we folded boxes and started naming farmstand products after the people in our lives. Some of those names have actually stuck to this day. That's how the Poor James loaf came to be.

By 10:30, we still didn't have anything to hang the sign on at the road. The plan was for James to get a post set in concrete that night. (You've seen how long this sign took to complete... about a month. 😂)

James insisted he could get it done. Well, us girls knew that was basically impossible to pull off that late at night, although probably would've stayed up all night trying. That's when one of my friends offered up her bird feeder pole as a temporary solution so he could actually get some sleep.

I drove over to her house, yanked it out of the yard, and said, "You don't need this anyway," assuming it had been left behind by the previous homeowners.

She looked at me and said, "Well, I like watching the birds. That's why I bought it." I had no idea she was an avid birdwatcher. 😂 The fact that I had just informed her she didn't need something she intentionally purchased had me rolling. I promised I'd return it quickly so she could get back to watching the birds real soon.

Fast forward to this past Sunday when she moved to Springfield. I told her I had a housewarming gift for her new house, and she gasped and said, "You do?!" That's when I proudly handed over her bird feeder pole, almost a full year later, ready for its new home in her yard and for her to resume her secret birdwatching hobby. 😂

What a full circle moment. Almost a year to the day, and it has finally been returned. Honestly, her moving provided exactly the pressure we needed to get this sign finished.

I also have to mention that James builds everything like it needs to survive a hurricane. This sign is rock solid. It reminds me of the time I asked for a simple pole for my hammock.

He used a 6x6 post and enough concrete to hold up a bridge. When he finished, I told him I was trying not to take it personal at how much weight this hammock pole could hold when I was the only one planning to use it. 😂 I still remember watching him just dig, dig, dig for all that concrete to hold the pole. 😂😂 He's an engineer who likes to overengineer. What can I say? 😂

We still have one goal left before our actual anniversary: getting that OPEN flag up. We're planning on making good on that almost year old promise very soon. Stay tuned!

I’m sorry for this update, but I’ve had a lot of people follow up, and I’m sure many of you have been wondering.

Bobby passed away Saturday night.

We also lost Farley last Monday morning (the orange cat pictured) to bobcat fever. 😭

They were always together and spent so much time curled up next to each other. For the short time they were apart, it broke my heart. If they had to leave us, at least they left together.

Thank you to everyone who has checked in on Bobby, tried to help us, and kept him in your prayers. It means more than we can even say.

For anyone wondering, I’ve learned a lot about bobcat fever. I’ve been told by multiple people that Revolution PLUS is the only flea/tick treatment that will prevent/kill this tick. I will now have it on all my cats going forward.

Preorders & How It Works
We offer convenient preordering through Hotplate so you can reliably get your favorites each week! Here’s how it works:

Sign up for notifications:
• this notifies you of when a menu will open. I used to send one for each menu opening and then one 2 hours before close but now I send only one a week when the menu is about to open (if you are getting more than one tell me…I tried to turn them all off)
• you can opt out of text reminders

Weekly Menus
• Friday Pickup: Pizza crusts, James Loves, cookies, brownies, and pop-tarts
• Saturday Pickup: Artisan loaves, cookies, brownies, gooey butter cake, and a different selection of pop-tarts
• menu options are mainly our best sellers and sometimes rotate things in and out
• You’ll check out separately for each day since they have different pickup times. (The orders can’t be combined.)
• you can switch to a different menu by clicking our logo in the upper left corner. That will take you back to the homepage where the two menus are

Payment Options
• Cash at pickup
• Venmo (before or at pickup)
• Check at pickup
• Card when ordering online (small additional card fee applies)

There is a small Hotplate processing fee of 5% + $0.55 per order. We pass this on so everything stays transparent.

Preorder Schedule
• Preorders open Sunday at 3:30 pm and close • Tuesday at 10 pm.
• If you miss the window or want to request something special, just message me and I’ll see what I can do. I’m happy to hold items for you. In that case, I’ll still apply the Hotplate fee for fairness, and I’ll ask for Venmo payment in advance to reserve your order.

Pickup Information:
• Pickup times are staggered at 3 vehicles per slot due to parking lot limitations.
• Orders are kept inside my house until 5–10 minutes before your scheduled pickup time. If you arrive early and don’t see it, this is why. This helps prevent mix-ups and allows us to manage limited shelf space.
• Occasionally orders are brought out a bit early when we have the space simple because we have places to go sometimes.
• the preorder pick up shelf is the black shelf to the right when you walk in
• Pickup times are flexible. If you need to change your slot, just message me!

A Note About Preorders
I don’t make any extra money on preorders, I offer this purely for your convenience so you can count on fresh bread and treats every week (and maybe even say goodbye to store-bought bread for good!).

I also give reward points for Hotplate orders that can save you money on future orders. It takes extra work on my end to prepare and set everything aside, but I love doing it so you have this dependable option.

Preorders do help me gauge how much to bake each week as I bake about 50% for preorders and 50% for the drop-ins. Since it gives me insight to the coming week and dependable bread for you, I call preordering a win-win for all of us even with the extra work for me and the extra fees for you.

A Quick Thank You 🧡

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all the tips you’ve given us this year. When I first opened last year, I had tipping turned off on Venmo. I felt like tipping culture can sometimes go overboard. Then I quickly realized I had to pay sales tax on everything I sell (don’t ask me how I didn’t think of that sooner 😂).

Within a month, I turned tipping back on and set the lowest suggested amount just to help cover the sales tax. I told you guys why I was doing this, and I also mentioned that if you’re paying cash, any spare coins from your car would be appreciated. I laugh cleaning out the box at night to the coins people threw in to clearly cover tax.

Because of your kindness, the extra tips have added up to just about cover our sales tax for the year. I’m truly grateful. Thank you again, 10 cents here and a buck there really does make a difference!

And hey, if you don’t tip, no worries whatsoever. Some people do, some don’t, and I honestly don’t pay attention to who’s doing what. I’m just happy you come and shop with us!

I put off saying thanks because I didn’t want anyone to feel bad for simply paying the exact amount. What I’ve found though is that it all evens out in the end. We give what we can when we can!

So please don’t stress! This is just my way of saying thank you while explaining everything else.

If you have any questions, ask. If you want to just keep on dropping in, I’m happy w that too!

P.S. If you've enjoyed your experience with us, reviews on Facebook, Google, or Hotplate mean the world and help us grow! If you ever have a moment, we'd be so grateful. 🙏

And if something ever isn't right, please reach out to me directly before leaving a negative review, I will always make it right. Our customers can attest to that! 😊

Hope you guys have a great day, link to preorders in comments!

Thank you. Truly, that’s really all there is to say.
Because of all of you, we only have a few things available:

• a Coffee cake muffin
• Deep Roots Farm and Nursery LLC has a dairy-free cinnamon braid
• Steadfast Sips Tea
• Gap Tooth BBQ LLC BBQ rub
• Vegetables

I am genuinely blown away by how you all showed up today. Thank you for not leaving me with all those loaves of bread. We appreciate every single one of you.

If you ever find yourself going through a rough spot and need a little help, please reach out. We mean that. We believe in what community actually means. It’s not just saying you’ll be there, it’s showing up when it matters.
And that’s exactly what you all did today. 🧡

Today, our friend Lexie, who sells flowers at the Rolla Downtown Farmers Market on Saturdays, gifted us this beautiful bouquet. What she didn’t know is that lilies are one of my daughter’s favorite flowers, and it brightened her day. Her flowers always brighten my day, and I have no doubt they’ll brighten yours as well. If you're looking for beautiful, homegrown flowers this summer, be sure to keep Lexie in mind.

Thanks again. We are open til 9 or sold out.

We are open, and thanks for your kind words but first:

DO NOT PARK TO THE LEFT OF THE TREE OR GO ADOUND IT. With this rain, you will get stuck or leave giant ruts and then no one can park there. Sorry I said to do that, had no idea it was going to rain!

We have:
-strawberry lemon scraptarts
-blueberry lemon scraptarts and pop tarts- a lot! It’s pretty much the only flavor.😂
-jalapeno cheddar sourdough
-roasted garlic and rosemary sourdough
-chocolate chip sourdough
-plain sourdough (water, flour, salt, starter)
- soft sourdough sandwich loaves
-par-baked pizza crusts
-browned butter chocolate chip cookie
-Dee’s oatmeal walnut cookie
-gooey butter cake
-Lisa’s brownies
-coffee cake muffins
-parm crackers

We will NOT be at Rolla Downtown Farmers Market 6/13.

We WILL be OPEN at the farm stand from 9am-9pm.

We baked today fully expecting to be at market, which means we baked A LOT. If you were planning to come to the market for our bread, it would mean the world if you could come to the stand instead. It’s only about 5 minutes from my house to the downtown lot. I’ll post directions for how to get there and how to pay for your food at the bottom of this post.

We have:
-sourdough artisan loaves
-cheddar jalapeno
-roasted garlic and rosemary
-chocolate chip
-plain
- sourdough sandwich loaves
-parbaked pizza crusts
-parm crackers
-pop-tarts and scrap-tarts of varying flavors
-browned butter chocolate chip cookies
-Dee’s oatmeal walnut cookies
-Gooey Butter Cake
-Lisa’s brownies
-coffee cake muffins

I believe that’s it, but the amounts are a lot. I think we will have over 64 loaves just at the stand. 😬 Usually I split it up on Saturdays (and bake more…very glad I was sick of hand mixing and didn’t with that!), but here we are.

I'm sorry for the change of plans. I would have loved to be there to say hi, but truthfully, we've had a very hard and emotional week with our animals.

On Monday, we lost one of our cats to bobcat fever. Tonight around 11:00, it seemed like our favorite cat, Bobby, who also has bobcat fever, wasn't going to make it much longer. He's still with us as I write this, but I don't think he has much time left. It's been an incredibly difficult week, and our hearts are broken.

I've decided to stay home with my daughter because he was her "Bobby Baby," and she is understandably heartbroken.

I'm sorry to start your day with such sad news, but I didn't want you to worry that something was wrong with us or our extended families. In the past, we've only had unexpected closures when there has been a significant reason like that. Thankfully, the humans are healthy and we are grateful for that, but right now our hearts are very heavy as we say goodbye to another well loved pet. It’s been a hard year for us with animals. 🥺

Thank you for your understanding.

Here’s the directions to get to the stand and how to get the food. I know, without a doubt, you all will show out, so please be careful navigating the parking. You can park in the grass to the left of the tree, you can also drive forward onto the grass and around the tree to get out if you get blocked in. Some people park on the road if the lot is crazy, please be careful as people can drive fast down 3010. We are planning to get more parking asap, thanks for your patience with it.
