Bea-Dilly Farm has been in our family for well over 100 years. Although the main farmhouse is much newer, it contains some treasured pieces that hold far more memories than monetary value.

As I began transitioning décor from summer to fall, I looked inside an old wooden toolbox my dad once used to hold mostly junk in his basement. I saw it and talked him into putting his junk stash in something else, and it now has a place of honor on my table. Tucked inside are my grandmother’s biscuit cutter and rolling pin, an old vinegar jar, and other keepsakes that are near and dear to my heart.

As I arranged them, I could almost taste her homemade bread and fresh greens from her garden. It’s amazing how the simplest objects can carry us back to the people, places, and moments we love most.

Does anyone else have something special that brings back sweet memories? 🤎

I am heartbroken over the tragic loss of two Milligan University cyclists in Carter County on Wednesday. 💔🦬

As an alumna and former employee of the university for more than 20 years, I was there when Milligan Cycling was announced as a team sport. I have watched these athletes train countless times along the stretch of road near my home where this tragedy occurred. I have stopped to help with flat tires, cheered them on, and even followed behind them with flashers on to help keep them safe. I saw several members of the team on Saturday, just before their ascent up Roan Mountain, and was so excited to see Milligan leading the pack. 🧡🖤

Though miles away from my East Tennessee home this week when I first saw the news of an accident involving cyclists on 19E, I somehow knew it was my beloved Buffaloes. My suspicion was soon confirmed.

Milligan is a special place filled with special people. It is more than my alma mater; it holds a huge piece of my heart. Memories of a similar tragedy in 2022, when some Milligan runners were struck by a drunk driver, came rushing back.

Milligan Cycling, their families, teammates, coaches, the entire Milligan community, and every first responder who answered the call have been in my constant thoughts and prayers and will continue to be in the days ahead. The driver and his family are also in my prayers. I ask that you join me in prayer for all.

May we turn our eyes toward Heaven and not take a single day for granted. Love deeply. Hold people close. Trust God to heal the heartache. Forgive others as Christ forgives. Be kind. Press on.

Birthdays and babies. It was a fun weekend at Bea-Dilly! 🧁🌸🎂

From a “Silly Goose” first birthday, complete with natural-dye buttercream florals, to an “It’s a Girl” Highland “coo” cake blooming with fresh roses and baby’s breath—there was lots of pink, plenty of cake, and the sweetest reasons to celebrate.

A goose and a coo… what’s next? 🪿🐮
