I’m incredibly disappointed to share that Sweet Whimsy Shop will no longer be participating in the planned Waterways market, as the event itself has now been canceled.
Like many local vendors, I was genuinely excited about the opportunity to connect with the Waterways community, share what we create, and bring something fun and special to the neighborhood. Small businesses pour so much time, preparation, inventory, and heart into events like these — often weeks in advance — because these markets are about far more than just selling products. They create community. They allow residents to meet the people behind local businesses and support families, creatives, and entrepreneurs right here in our area.
Unfortunately, after plans had already been finalized and vendors committed, the market was canceled due to decisions made behind the scenes that were outside of vendors’ control. It’s heartbreaking to see opportunities for local connection disappear at the last minute, especially after so many accommodations and compromises had already been made in an effort to make the event work.
To everyone who was looking forward to attending: thank you. Your excitement and support truly mean the world to small businesses like mine.
I sincerely hope our community continues to seek out and support local vendors whenever possible. Independent businesses thrive because of community support — and communities thrive when small businesses are welcomed into them. 💕
