The biggest mistake beginner sourdough bakers make? Not starting. 🌾

I hear it all the time. "I could never do that." "It seems so complicated." "I'd probably just kill the starter." And I get it — sourdough has a reputation for being this mysterious, fussy, high maintenance thing that only serious bakers can pull off.

But here's what I actually know after baking batch after batch in my own home kitchen: sourdough is more forgiving than people think. Your starter wants to live. It wants to bubble and rise and do its thing. It just needs you to show up for it consistently — flour, water, a little patience — and it will reward you every single time.
The intimidation is real but it's also a lie. 😊

You don't need a professional kitchen. You don't need fancy equipment. You need a jar, some flour, some water, and the willingness to try. That's it. Everything else is just practice. 🤍

I've been thinking a lot lately about how God shows up in the ordinary.

Not the big moments — the quiet ones. The dough that finally comes together after a long week. The first cup of coffee before the house wakes up. The toddler who makes even the most ordinary errand feel like an adventure. The way the fields look on a drive you've taken a hundred times that somehow still catches you off guard.

He's in all of it. Every single bit of it.

I don't think faith was ever meant to live only in the Sunday moments. I think it was meant to be stirred into the everyday ones — the ordinary Tuesday afternoons and the busy holiday weekends and the quiet moments in between where you slow down just enough to feel it.

Grateful for every ordinary moment that turned out to be anything but. 🕊️
