A little Crescent Bakes story.
A year and a half ago, Crescent Bakes was just me, learning how to make sourdough in my apartment.
I had moved to NYC 12 years earlier and always missed the kind of bread I grew up eating in Paris. So I decided to learn how to make it myself.
On January 17, 2025, I baked my very first sourdough loaf. Four days later, I put it up for sale.
And somehow, people bought it.
From there, things moved quickly.
I delivered every order myself across Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan. I found Marco through a local Facebook group, and he still delivers Crescent Bakes orders around the city on his electric bike.
We partnered with our first CSA. Then we outgrew my home kitchen and moved into a commercial commissary in LIC β where I taught myself how to work with 80-quart mixers and a triple-deck oven while still working a full-time corporate job.
We opened new pickup locations. Hosted bread tastings. Started working with catering companies and private chefs. Hired a team β and taught two people who had never professionally baked bread how to make every single loaf we sell.
And in April, I finally left my corporate career to go all-in on Crescent Bakes.
Today, weβre a small team baking bread for regular customers, CSA members, catering companies, and some incredibly talented chefs around NYC.
Sometimes Iβm so focused on whatβs next that I forget to look back at whatβs already happened.
So this is me taking a moment to do that.
From one sourdough loaf in an apartment kitchen to this.
Iβm pretty proud of it.
And very grateful to everyone whoβs been part of the journey so far. πππ₯Ή
